Impreza 03 ABS.

Is it normal for the abs to feel so funky?
Had the car a couple of years, had a couple of close misses due to the brakes feeing like they almost don’t connect during abs, very weak pulsing.

I was on a sludgy hill the other day in snow and have realised that quite frankly the abs is terrible. I am very cautious now when I am driving in case it kicks in when I am not expecting it to.

a little google has shown it is known for being a bit iffy, can I have some opinions please?

I felt the abs on my old uk turbo felt like it was kicking in too early and the brakes were inadequate.  New front and rear aftermarket discs, 4 pot fronts (to replace the oe 2 pots) and pads made a fair bit of difference.

My current 94 sti doesn't have abs and has always felt much better under hard braking ,  well in the dry anyways
