Jinshim Posted May 13, 2022 Posted May 13, 2022 Hi guys! Help would be greatly appreciated here, am looking at a JDM STI hatch back for sale. Car is beautiful and loads of history from Japan and UK. Car has a really consistent tick at idle, I think it could be the lifters, I've been told by the dealer + past owner that the car has sat for about 3 months and prior to that was barely driven. Ive asked for an oil change to see if that helps with the noise as I think the oil may have degraded over time and hasn't been regularly pumped around! Does anyone have any advice/think it is anything different! Cheers Nick
Jinshim Posted May 13, 2022 Author Posted May 13, 2022 Realise that doesn't have sound Hopefully this is better : https://youtube.com/shorts/yg_ABM-IHTU?feature=share 😶
Nimpy Posted May 16, 2022 Posted May 16, 2022 That sounds loud, does it get less obvious when it gets warm?

Nimpy Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Could be the lifters, maybe piston slap? Though not sure it's the latter though. If it was my money, I would be a bit hesitant or asking for a big discount.
