Taking my gb270 Impreza on a long road trip to scotland. Haven't had it too long and seems to be going through a fair amount of oil. Any advice on possibly why this is and what oil is best?

Between 1-2 litres over 1000 miles but nothing leaking 

1L per 1000 is the amount that tends to be considered something to worry about so does sound high. unfortuantly the 2.5 is known for not being the most reliable engine, one sign of issues is high oil consumption.
