Please could anyone help I have a Subaru flat for 1989 

when I accelerate and take my foot off the accelerator The engine keeps rubbing and doesn’t die down to natural idol for about 30 seconds 

any suggestions please

Dodgy idle control valve?

Okay thank you  why do you think it’s dodgy  just to confirm because I know nothing about please I do appreciate the advice 

 

but when driving down the road the engine doesn’t go back to idle when you take the foot off the accelerator 

normally about 15 to 20 seconds before the engine settles down

Soounds like its sticking, not saying 100% it is, but could well be as its what controls the idle
