ScoobyC Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 Hey guys/gals, recently bought my first Subaru. 2010 GH3 1.5 RX Impreza Hatchback, i know… a 1.5 lol, had to be for insurance purposes otherwise i wouldn’t be able to afford the insurance prices (£2000+ for a 2.0/2.5) looking for advice on what i can do to improve the reliability or slight performance upgrades such as filters e.t.c. I know that these engines aren’t worth modding but i wonder if you guys have any “Must do’s” for these engines. Like filters/tunes/improving stock components.. Any help would be greatly appreciated and would go a long way, really excited about my first Subaru 😄 Many thanks!
Tidgy Posted August 23, 2023 Posted August 23, 2023 theres not alot that you can do without paying silly money im afraid as most improvements are achieve via the turbo, either increasing boost or bigger turbo etc, best bet is perhaps do a few styling mods that you could remove to go on your next one and build up your no claims. Afraid the power of the impreza engine comes from the turbo, so without it there isnt alot worth doing 😞

Already bought some styling mods and few more things to put on. I guess i’ll leave the engine alone other than putting on a new timing belt kit and water pump. That’ll do me for 1-2 years until i am able to upgrade to a 2.0/2.5 turbo hatchback! 😄
