Pre-purchase questions

I am about to buy a 2016 Outback.
I have seen two

  • petrol automatic
  • diesel manual

Although I am a 100% manual driver, my husband finds it easier with the automatic (sometimes he forgets to change gears)

The automatic seems in great condition except in the boot, no pull over cover, there is space for a tire - no tire. In the other one I viewed there was a tray for the tools and storage (no wheel but a repair kit)
The diesal was very noisy clunky in the gear changes and the screen shows all the touch screen lines, I couldn't link my phone in mirror link it was greyed out, as was the starlink.... app
Can anyone tell me if the tools tray should be there as standard, with space to put the pull out cover? If anyone has a photo I can show the seller that would be amazing.

If anyone has any advice of one over the other that would be great too. General we do shorter journeys more often and I know a diesel won't like that.

Many thanks.
