need help, i have an early 98 forester 2.0 non turbo. recently i have been getting a bad vibration all through the car,About 2 months ago the rear diff blew up and a used one was sourced and fitted all fine till last week. changed tyres round as 2 new ones fitted, no difference, prop un bolted and turned 180 still no difference checked drive shafts and u/j's all seem ok  anyone got any ideas as at a dead end.

Not really sure sorry is it worse under breaking ?

thanks for reply, starts vibrating above about 10 mph and no deviation under braking or speed increase

Hmm strange one that one high speed I've heard about vibrations and under braking but not as little as 10mph

If you can get under it I would give everything a good shake check the Exhausts not loose and vibrating, swap the front wheel's with the back ones see if that changes it, check for any dry u-joint's, or even worn Engine mounts. Tough one this one mate :(

Are you saying that changing the wheels round is what started the problem?

If so, I would guess you have a slightly buckled wheel and putting it on a different hub has shown it up. Try swapping the wheels back to the original positions to see if the problem goes

Haha I missed that when I 1st read it :D I would swap them over 1st. As Tlags pointed out chances are one is buckled :)

put new rear tyres on  same wheels same hub, vibration occured after about 40/50 mile. changed wheels around as clutching at straws but to no end. took car on test drive after every single tyre change to eliminate each hub.

Have had car up on axle stands and been all over drive train, engine mounts and gearbox mounts seem ok .

thinking of hiring car out to hen party!!

Have you hit any deep pot holes? Bricks, logs etc?

I wonder if one of the shocks has given up or maybe bent something.

Maybe one of the wheel weights has come off and a wheel is out of balance. Might be worth going to whoever fitted the tyres and get them to check.

Other thoughts are wheel bearings or worn suspension bushes.
