Hi mate welcome to S.O.C

Nice to see even more local Scooby owners making there way here :)

As for local specialists we're a bit thin on the ground around here really for them. Any big work I drive through to Sheffield and let Martin at Sheffield Subaru Services do the work I can't say it enough absolutely top guy and great prices. I would say the other nearest one we have is in Horncastle Chandlers I know a few local Subaru owners go there. Mate of mine Dan down Railway Street who owns Dj Services isn't to bad for some work too if it's like brakes you want changing if you can't do them yourself.

I'm also looking at getting a local meet going if that would interest you ?

It's just for local members and subaru owners of all models to meet up and get to know each other. And I would like to see if I can get it sorted for once a month.

Just hit a bit of a snag at the minute as to where it will be I'm trying to get the White Horse in Marshchapel but it's owned by the parish council who wants public liability insurance as you might have seen if you have had a look around the forum. But if you haven't please feel free too, and to join in amazing bunch on here very friendly so don't worry about making new posts or joining in on the old ones :D

But I'm sure you will have or will see me driving around so give us a wave. :)

Hi thanks for reply that's great thanks for info !

I read somewhere yesterday there's a garage called rasp on estate road 8 of the motor way have you heard of them ? They seem to have been recomended a few times .

I also got told swift are a good garage as the owner is the ex subaru specialist when it was subaru years ago , I might pop and see him .

I've saved for a long time to get one and I love it ! I won't to do a few things but not brilliant on cars lol

Yes I'd be up for a meet anything to get my knowledge up on them !

What model and colour is yours ill keep my eyes open !

Cheers

Oh I thought he had moved on last time I heard the owner had joined a rally team not sure how true that is :)

But did a quick search you could be right. :) and yes they was highly recommended a few years back so if it's still the same people will be great work not sure on prices though I never used them.

The one you will see me in nearly all of the time is a Bugeye with Morettes can't miss it really :) has now just had a sunstrip added with the clubs forum on it :) and a few mini club stickers dotted about :)

but sometimes in a 55 plate Blobeye like your's they're both in WRC Blue, well if you ever want to pop round for a cuppa tea you're more than welcome too Dan who owns an RB320 is only just down the road from me. He popped round for the 1st time last weekend. always good to meet up with local members.

Sorry if you're unsure with the terms I've used with regards to the year of the cars.

2001/2002 = Bugeye

2003/2005= Blobeye

Are your cars standard then or what things you done to them ?

Blobeyes just had a bigger exhaust fitted and alloys, sti spoiler and some interior mods done like speakers Stereo thats sort of thing.

The Bugeye decat bhp 300 was higher but lowered it a bit when fuel went silly prices :( Needs some work again doing to it hopefully fingers crossed be next week or the week after :)

That is a good price mate is that to change the lot full kit and water pump ?

I would always recommend that as if it goes after you pay for it all again plus the pump :(

Posted

No it's not with the water pump do you think I should have that done ?

They also said that the tensioners might not need changing because there fully metal on subaru is this true ?

This is why I need to find some one I can trust lol

Posted

Hmmm I would do it all mate especially the water pump for me that is more likely to go before the tensioners but I  would have them done at the same time. Once the bearings lose their cushion which is the grease things go downhill pretty fast. and you will find yourself back at the garage paying for it all to be done again, with the extra work :( Best way to look at it is will they last until another cambelt change is due. The extra work shouldn't take you much over an extra £100 for the piece of mind and risk it's worth having done I know it's all money but worth it in my honest opinion :)

And a good picture of one when it fails I think if not replaced in time

echo the above - get it all done for peace of mind
