  1. Thanks DR Acula, 225 sounds good, just want to put a bit more rubber under the arches
  2. Hi, about to change all the tyres on my 1999 SF Turbo. I currently run 215/55/17s and would like to go a bit wider without the tyres contacting the bodywork. I don't mind fitting wheel spacers but don't wish to fit wheel arch flares/extenders. What is the max width tyres anyone has fitted to a SF Forester without fowling the wheel arches? Can I go 225 for instance? thanks
  3. HI all. The front windows on my foz are and have always been scratched. I thought it was the weather strips so dully order new ones for the front and went to fit them this weekend. I then realised that it may also be caused by the little monkeys called 'window weather strip stabilzers'. I think I have found the part numbers, there are 'inners and outers', or right and lefts - 61256AE010 and 62304FC000 - but can't find these for sale anywhere There is a seller in ebay selling new ones for the SG. Different part numbers and I don't really want to buy something- for about £100 for full set of front ones - if they don't fit the SF. Does anyone know if the SG and SF window stabilizers are the same? They keep the front windows from flopping about when going up and down and also align them. If I can't get new ones I will stick some fuzzy felt on them, but a couple of the 'carriers' are proper fxxxxd. thanks
  4. So, I own a 1999 2ltr sf turbo, beautiful car. Black with a touch of metalflake in it. WRX discs and calipers, whiteline bushes,Manual. Reconditioned rear subframe. Always looked after etc etc. 145k miles. cam belt changed, oil etc changed. Cleaned every weekend. I love it. No probs with it. My problem is that I use it as a daily drive to and from building sites with shovels etc in the back and in the 5 years I have owned it the inside is getting a bit knackered. I have an opportunity to buy a non turbo sf so I can use this as my daily drive and only use the sfturbo occasionally. As I am sure we all know taxing and insuring a car that we don't use much alongside a daily drive adds dosh so I am trying to establish this potential purchase to my self and my other half. I looked a while back ( it was after a couple of beers) on a dvla related site and it seems as though there are only 8 manual sf turbos left registered in the uk. So if my scooby was a capri or cortina it would be worth £10k plus. Which I realise my foz isn't. So , what do you think my scooby forester (1999, heated seats, aircon, boot roof spoiler, peddars rear shocks, no rust, ) is worth ? I don't want to sell it but need to have some idea as to whether you think it's worth some dosh? Wot do you recon? Wilbs

  6. thanx Pete B and Mr B, I have trawled the web , looked at ICP etc for the last week and I have bought the only one I could find, which is the one on ebay which you have shown. Collected it yesterday, lots of surface rust and looked **** but spent the day with angry grinder, power file etc etc and it's all solid. Which is great. So hopefully by the end of the week my SF will be MOT'd and back on the road. Appreciate your replies and help and I will let you know how it all goes. Catch you soon
  7. HI all, my 1999 Forester SF turbo has just failed it's MOT on a rusty rear subframe and I am really struggling to get hold of a new replacement or a decent second hand one. Does anyone know if any other rear subframes will fit my SF without modifications, or with small mods as want to keep it as original as poss. Or where I can get hold of a new subframe? They seem to be available in the states but only for a 2.5l of the same year? Don't want to buy one and ship it over if it won't fit. Thanks for any help you can provide Wilbs
  8. So, I tried my local motor factors - Whoopie in Farnham - for the front O2 sensor. All they had listed was sensors with 4 wires but offered to get one in and see if it looked 'right'. So today I went to 'look' at the 4 wired sensor and in fact it was 3 wires and looks to be exactly what is currently fitted to my 2000 Forester SF, so deep joy! I haven't fitted it yet , will do so at the weekend, but everything matches what is currently fitted so looking good. For anyone who wants to know or has the same situation it is an NTK/NGK Lambda sensor with numbers on the box being 'OZA743-EE1/01' and 'OZA743-EE1' plus a stock number of 97037 - 4H01. This is the front sensor. Hope this helps if anyone else is in the same situation - once fitted I also report back.
  9. Hi, new to site so please bear with me. I have a 2000 Forester 2.0SFTurbo. I have been trying to get a new O2 sensor, front sensor , mine has 3 wires, all I seem to be able to buy is ones with 4 wires. If they fit will they do the same job? The reason I am looking for one is that it only just passed it's last MOT on emissions and I believe this may be a contributing factor. Also it idles slightly erratically, maybe varying 200rpm once warmed up so also looking for a new MAF sensor, they seem to vary from £30 to £250 - why? and any suggestions on this. Thanks is advance for any help and advice.
