  1. Hey nothing wrong with noise lol mine is pretty loud straight through. And the neighbours love it :D
  2. Hi mate welcome to S.O.C And I love the Hawkeyes even if its not a WRX. And I too like rallying :D as you might be able to tell never done any as an event though :(
  3. Not bad MPG and good choice with the forester. :) Should have tried our insurance see if it was any cheaper as you get discount from being a club member :) but least you are sorted now. Just need to get it cleaned up and some pictures on :D
  4. Well my guess would be he used a donor car I.e one he knew would pass and just added your reg on the computer, very common thing to do :) They might have added something to the oil also just to lower it. I don't think he would have done anything to the idle unless it was over revving :)
  5. I would go 2nd hand, there always seems to be some for sale just finding the right one with classics :( And I know it's hard but you should be fine just keep off the boost until its done. :D Give you 3 weeks I bet you buy one new haha :D
  6. Woohoo now you are officially a S.O.C :) Be great to see some pictures mate.
  7. Sounds like the bushings have gone mate, common on the Legacy can be repaired. Not sure if its an easy fix or not I've never had to do one Here is a guide I found all credit to the OP :) I picked up a B&M short throw shifter including front/rear bushings. I installed it a few weeks ago and decided to post a few pictures for those who are wondering about this kit. With the front / rear bushings the "neutral wobble" is 95% gone there still some play but overall very nice. B&M Short Throw Shifter PART # MAKE/MODEL 45150 96-03 SUBARU IMPREZA 45150 96-03 SUBARU LEGACY 45150 01-06 SUBARU WRX 5-SPEED Shifter fits the above. My kit came with the bushings so I am going to assume that all kits will come with them now. Cost: $190 CAN including tax local pickup brand new http://www.jrponline.com Shifter Side-by-side OLD REAR BUSHING Thats a KartBoy bushing but its identical to the B&M The front bushing wasn't in bad shape but I replaced them with the B&M that came with the kit.. This is also a Kartboy bushing but identical to B&M (i am just using this for reference) Now the whole process wasn't to bad except for the fact that the B&M kit did not come with a shifter retaining clip!!!!!!!!!! It comes with everything else but not something that costs 10 cents!! This is do-it-yourself if you have the right tools. This job was pretty easy since we were using a hoist but it is 100% possible to do this in your garage. When you purchase the B&M kit it gives you a pretty decent description step-by-step of what to do. Summary: Remove center console Remove bracket holding dust boot (6 screws) Unscrew the shift knob Un-bolt the upper linkage from the shifter Drop Exhaust Drop the exhaust shield Drop the mid drive shaft support (optional for more room) Un-bolt lower linkage from shifter Remove retaining ring clip w/ proper puller tool Pull out rear shifter linkage from the rear shifter mount Remove the rear shifter mount Remove the front shifter mount from the linkage (push it out w/ end of hammer) Replace front shifter mount (push it in with your fingers left/right bushing) Replace rear shifter mount Remove the shifter Replace the shifter w/ new grease Reconnect everything The only thing that seemed strange was the metal bracket holding the dust boot had to be installed backwards and only 4 screws can be used. Theres a few little steps I didn't mention but the step-by-step w/ the kit will explain. Heres also the legacy guide for a 97' I am sure its the same as 95-99.
  8. I hate you ;)

Same tit from before is my guess just ignore the trolls will update the profile and remove the post in a second. Just looking what he's put first. Where is !Removed! Gandalf when you need that long bearded wizard troll killing genius..... YOU SHALL NOT PASS!!! Ok sorry I'm geek raging now :D And I can't believe you sold it :( I was only about £16,000 short I was working on it (runs off and cry's into a pillow) think Cossie would have me hands down. Be interested to see what you think with the Evo. Last guy I spoke with said its a nice car but he couldn't live with it. But he is a Subaru owner now :)
  10. Hi Owen welcome to S.O.C I would let you take some of mine but you are to far away for me :( And I would always say get one. Yes that is from a very bias view :D they're more addictive the crystal meth :)
  11. Might help with some more air so might get a few BH gains 2 maybe 3 :D but will help it sound more snorty if that's such a word :D I would still want the STI spoiler myself. But the car is looking great mate, massive well done from what it started off from so far. And as I have said before. we all have to hold back on things we want or need to do when it comes to money so you're not on your own :)
  12. Looking good Mel. How have you not been pulled over with them back light's they look soooo dark lol :) Any other mods planned ? And I like the silver and black look, as you might have seen through other posts :D And Silverscooby you have another Female reporting for duty :D Oh and you can post pic's on the forum in here ;) just so you know
  13. I think Simtek is the one used for your car which I believe would give you 2 flashes to have installed. But I'm not 100% sure with the ECU on classic shapes. I would take it to your local remap place to get there advise which would completely outweigh mine I wouldn't want to tell you something and it be wrong :( Hope that help's Not sure if anyone else knows on here :)
  14. Hi mate we have many discussion on this :) with that type they don't have ODM ports and the ECU can't be remapped. So mean's you would have to buy one that is ok for the car as a replacement that can be remapped. And no post is too long Unless you say Audi drivers know how to drive. And that's to long right there :D
  15. Hi mate welcome back. Sorry to hear about the sump :( And I'm in the same boat with mine my hub's chewing bearings up so got it booked in for Tomorrow for a new one, mines not from any Gymkhana event's :D Like the sounds of the alloys get some pictures up mate. And we have another local guy in Sunny scunny now :) we're not totally out numbered :D
  16. Hey Mel welcome to S.O.C And agree some pic's will be great to see when you get chance :)
  17. Nice can't beat buying a car and coming across hidden treasures :D
  18. Looks better then your Legacy mate :D Haha No look good mate have you driven it yet. was interested to know which feels better to drive.
  19. Nice. And that's a sign of a good remapper :) I would like that for mine but I'm not sure it would spend 90% of the time in power mode :D
  20. Fantastic. It strangely brought a smile to my face reading this part "The 818 explodes down Gingerman's front straight. This isn't the fast you get with a 911 Turbo or a Corvette, that sense of mighty power overcoming considerable weight. It's the whoa of a linearly accelerated roller coaster. Second and third dissapear in a rush as the rear end oscillates. I find myself short-shifting just to keep the car straight. It's a genuine thrill, and even if you never took your 818 to the track, the joy of warping between stoplights would keep you occupied for months" "It takes a few corners for my brain to catch up to how the car handles. You think a Mazda Miata is light? The 818 weighs 400 lbs less than the first generation Miata, it rolls on tires 50 percent wider. Turn-in is neck-straining at high speed. On the first lap it feels like the limits are too high to reach, but once you reach them, the 818's a true sweetheart, pushing the front predictably before uncorking its tail in a lazy slide." I want to see some video footage next dam it sounds MEAN! :D
  21. Hi Wayne welcome to S.O.C I think you need to be looking at wheels off 2003 onwards with a width of 7j So I wouldn't want to say yes they will fit but after checking it looks like the 2002 Outback would fit fine. as they was 7J from 2000 onwards. Hope that helps, or that some one with the same model might be able to help you more :D
  22. That's true Snail mail would only lose it or get it to me late anyway :)
  23. I heard that slap a cross the back of the noggin from hear Simon :D Might try that with the Mrs next time she wants me to hoover " I drive the car, you drive the Hoover" If I don't post for awhile I will try let you know which hospital and ward to send my get well cards to....
