  1. Now I know why Bip knows so much about the engines mind you you're not bad either :D But Scooby Pete's still my hero. :D
  2. Looks good can tell from the front arch how low it is :D
  3. I like it to be fair. Think a Subaru badge would have been better and I nearly never clicked the link but I couldn't help myself :D I'm more interested what you will think in about 3 months because that's when the bloke I was on about before said he had enough of it by then and moved over to a Scooby and had 2 since, :D But he is and oldish chap. And I will point out I did have the pleasure of an evo for a few weeks but was only an evo 4 So did you go for it in the end with the lack of Cossies around then ? Or was it the rebel in you that took you to the Darkside ;)
  4. Hi mate welcome to the forums most common major fault would be bigend's going other then that really gearbox are not great. then just the normal stuff you look for rust oil, Clutch bite point. Can always check the history too via the text and online places. If you get a good car that has history or from an enthusiast would be best bet. As you know most of the time would have had oil changed when its been needed. Which remind me :D I need to do mine soon ;)
  5. Handy tip thanks for sharing even if it's not going to help dogma1 now, but handy all the same :)
  6. Hey what a result I'm a little jealous truth be told :) mind you I would rather be able to play with the car on a rally track :) And it does sound like you have the help and backing of people to help with the rebuild. If you want feel free to do a photo documentary/blog on here as you go, always interesting to see and we can see how it's going :)
  7. I'm not going to say your mate is wrong as I could be by saying it but with my wheels I wouldn't want to take the risk myself
  8. Any chance of before and after picture's... I like pictures ;)..... Of the car jeez I read that back could have sounded terrible. Like a Corsa with no back box :D
  9. Haha If I was wanting to save the planet I would have a Prius. Not that I believe in this green house effect that much just a way for an invisible tax IMO :) And if you want to go with fashion remember you must wear jogging bottoms with shoes ideally Rockports and shirt with the top 3 maybe 4 buttons undone, along with gold chains. and going back to the head wear a baseball cap and just stretch a condom around the middle of the face over the nose :D So it looks a little bit like this :D
  10. What Adam was saying is just because it has the Turbo on it doesn't mean it is a WRX engine. best way to put it is it could be a Frankenstein engine made up of parts but still using a 2.0l subaru engine. So the only real way would be to take the car apart to find out. As for doing the rebuild of the engine that's great if you can and cheaper too, I'm not that good I would need to either pay for it to be done or pay to have a refurbished one put in. Oh and welcome to S.O.C :D
  11. Modify a black bin liner. That way once you have done the job and got the money, you can then pop to the shop and you already have a bag to carry the pop noodles home in. Always thinking of the environment me you see :D
  12. I can sort you a picture out mate that's not a problem. As for the sound I think I get more from the exhaust and DV to notice :D
  13. Haha I'm sure that's a cocktail of things like coke meth and tigers blood. :) This stuff is great but once its on, its a big job on ever getting it off again :D http://www.ebay.co.uk/bhp/tiger-seal-adhesive
  14. If I was in doubt I would change it mate. Always better to be safe then sorry, and I'm sure pot noodles wont be all bad as long as you can borrow some bread and butter of next door :)
  15. Cheers Adam I never knew you could do that to a standard engine, I know you can turn any engine to a turbo if you wanted. Another thing learned today :D
  16. I see it last night but was late though sort it in the morning then got really busy this morning so had to do it when I got chance which was now :D Oh well all's fair in love and war Haha Oh and cambelt them dreaded words. mind you will need to do mine by the end of the year/start of next I'm guessing :(
  17. Most people will say it's not needed unless you want to push the 400BHP as the OEM will do fine. Me I'm not most people so have a K&N one :) can't say I see any massive gains from it as it was fitted at the same time as the engine rebuild and map. But I always like the thought it can get enough air at all times :) http://www.knfilters.co.uk/search/product.aspx?Prod=57A-6018 I have this one can be found cheaper on ebay now. And some tool when it was in the garage has lost my air pipe going to it but seen I can get a ramair one cheap enough :)
  18. Oh well hopefully it went well. And he's to drunk to post :)
  19. I was just coming on to reply to this had to do some digging around to find the info beat me to it :D
  20. Pete's pretty good with most things and you managed to do the clips. Bit of a joke to myself I'm now guessing :D
  21. (Wolf Whistles) Looking good mate I like it
  22. :( I use a Bluetooth adapter from home I can use with either my phone or tablet/Ipad has not let me down so far and when it's been double checked with my friends £2000 bit of kit so far has been the same, so would recommend these. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.prowl.torque&hl=en http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Android-Torque-Car-Mini-ELM327-OBD2-OBDII-Bluetooth-Diagnostic-Interface-CAN-BUS-/181124903208?pt=UK_Diagnostic_Tools_Equipment&hash=item2a2be2b128 And you can clear the codes to see if they return too :)
