Gtb twin turbo engine problem
5heffield 5ubaru 5ervice replied to Gtbdenz's topic in Subaru Legacy Club
The first thing I would do is rectify the speedo issue as the ecu needs a vehicle speed signal from the speedo. If it is anything like Imprezas this will more than likely rectify the 4500 rpm problem. -

The way I bleed the cooling system is take little pipe off top of radiator from header tank fill header tank and blow on header tank keep filling and blowing in header tank until coolant comes out of the top of radiator a nice flow allowing all air out of system and topping header tank at same time then refit pipe top header tank up run engine for bout 30 seconds with cap off and then refit job done wait for fans to cut in then let it cool and just top up header tank if required I always do it this way and never have any probs cheers martin sss

What type of cone filter are u running , maf sensors are very common on version 5 and can cause erratic idle wont rev above 4500 rpm , holding back , I had one that when u put vehicle under load fuel pump was weak and caused it to misfire and hold back as well , is it noisy and can u here it prime after it cuts out when putting ignition on , are u running a dump valve ?? Never know a knock sensor cause the vehicle to splutter and cut out they only detect engine det and advance or !Removed! timing , check fuel pump or maf sensor mate cheers martin Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk

Pick your Brains on Impreza Diesels
5heffield 5ubaru 5ervice replied to brid's topic in Subaru Impreza Club
Be careful on the subaru diesels as they suffer with injector blow by which causes excessive carbon build up in sump and blocks pick up pipe which in turn causes oil pressure failure and knocks cranks out and engines are expensive and not many parts available to rebuild cheers martin sss Sent from my GT-I9305 using Tapatalk -
Hi stanton500 I will get machine shop to bore block and I will rebuild with acl race bearings new pistons and rings , multi layer head gaskets etc etc then run in we no boost which ash will love lol and then I will organise to get it remapped which will see some good power
