  1. My local Subaru dealer told me the number, I.think he just looked it up on the dealer computer. Good luck. Mike
  2. Well what a pain in the bum, I went down to my usual garage to drop off some booze for the lads for Xmas, drove into the workshop, ( right next to where the radio is on fairly loud), switched off the car, unloaded the booze, had a quick chat, went to start the car, and the key fob had no effect whatsoever. Spent a fair while fiddling about trying to get it to work using the key to manually lock/unlock the car, checked the fob battery etc, but no chance. I have the same problem with my Range Rover parked in the same spot when the fob wouldn't work there either till we moved it We pushed the car outside to clear the way for others but still no joy outside. I rang the local Subaru garage and they rang me back with an override code and all that did was start the alarm going, They said get it up to them and they would put their magic box on to investigate. Anyway I got it towed 1/2 mile to the Subaru garage and they are going to look at it tomorrow ( the didn't have a chance this afternoon). Kevin, one of the fitters who I had dropped a case of Thatchers cider down to earlier, phoned me up on his way home tonight and told me he had a L/R Discovery have the same problem this afternoon, i.e, parked in the same place and couldn't get the fob to work until they pushed it outside where at least it worked eventually. Anyone else had this problem with Radio Waves disruption? Or does anyone have any other suggestions? It's enough to drive one to drink ( well it's an excuse anyway). Happy Xmas, Bah Humbug.
  3. Still going strong then!!!!!
  4. Well I ordered the assembly this morning and got the price £86 and a few pennies, + VAT. Robbing bar stewards. Should be here Monday, then we will see if I can just swap the connecting tube over, or have to change the lot. Knowing my luck it will be an engine out job B) I replaced the front brake disks this morning, nice easy job, no hidden surprises, made a nice change.
  5. Guess which parts system is down at present, I'm lucky like that. Will update as soon as I get a price.
  6. Hey, thanks for trying anyway, looks like I'll have to try and sort one out from the main dealers, I just know that's gonna hurt, I'll let you know the pain later. Cheers Mike.
  7. Good man!!!
  8. It's a 2006, Reg BT56OND
  9. Many thanks much appreciated.
  10. Sounds about right.
  11. Hi, you can't push it tight in as they just butt up against each other, the missing plug would certainly clip into the front cover and I assume just push into the oblong hole.
  12. New picture added to original post.
  13. Unfortunately not, the square bit is pretty solid as is the plastic cover. There definitely looks as thought there should be a joiner of some sort. It would be sods law if I tried to take the L/H one off to have a look see, it would break and cost another £50+.
  14. Hi everyone I hope someone can assist. I got my car last week a 2006 Outback 3.0 R, and the r/h headlight washer trim was missing. I ordered the new trim part number 86636AG250 and got it yesterday. The problem is as you can see on the attached pictures, the washer jet has an oblong hole and the trim has a round hole. It didn't come with a joining tube and neither I nor the parts guy at my local Subaru garage can find the item. From the last picture you can see the plug thats missing from the cover. Have any of you guy's come across this? The little cover was £52.67p, you would have thought there was some way to join it to the car. Any help for a newbie appreciated. Thanks Mike.
  15. If it's been stood for a while it may be just rust on the discs, they all need driving.
  16. Good evening all, as is the done thing, here is a little about me. I have joined the forum as I am purchasing an Outback 3.0 R circa 2006, next Wednesday 4th Dec. Too late people it's a done deal and you can't talk me out of it. I have a Range Rover P38 and find it difficult to type with losing an arm and a leg over the last year ( metaphorically speaking ). I have spent a fortune keeping up with things to keep the Rangy sweet, so I thought I would try something completely different. I thought about an Audi Allroad but was put off by tales of woe and the air bag saga's and fuel pump problems from 2 people I know, have had with them, another contender was a Volvo cross country but that looked a little high at the back. One of the main concerns is having a German Shepherd with Spondylosis of the spine who will invariably have increasing difficulty getting in and out of the back, Hopefully he won't have too much trouble with the new one. As for myself I am 62 and left work 4 years ago after a triple heart bypass that has left me unable to bend over without getting terribly short of breath. Luckily I have an RAF pension having spent 26 1/2 years as an Aircraft Engine Fitter, after leaving the RAF I spent 15 years as Office/Works manager for a small double glazing company in Chard. I can't be arsed to do anything else even though I don't receive any benefits from HMG. I have been married to Sally for 26 years and have two children, five grand children and one great grand child from a previous marriage. ( I like being married I have done it three times, I love wedding cake ). Sally works as a nursing assistant at a local care home, looking after dementia residents, it's not a job I could do I wouldn't have the patience. I have had a 1996 N Reg Land Rover 300 Tdi for 5 3/4 years, that I use for my hobby of shooting/stalking, depending how I find the Outback maybe I will change that for something a bit less thirsty. I can't seem to get more than 22 mpg out of it although 95% of journeys are short around town. Right , Sally has just brought me in a cuppa so I will sign off and have a trawl through some of the other folks tales. I'm sure I will find plenty of info on here and look forward to a bit of banter. Cheers for now Mike.
