Top Gear Test Track. It's Back!
Dogconker replied to Gambit's topic in Games/Console/Computer Nerd Room
Do you know what, you can have it. I've just run a couple of laps and I'm not even getting close to 2.25, I could probably get back where I was but I can't justify the time investment to get back into it. So I'll take 2nd, again -

I think me and Hilli ended up trading hundredths and it got too stessful, I reckon there's another second or so in the lap. Which now that I'm not top I might try and demonstrate tonight -
Yeah, I tried to of the cheaper options and you can't even tell what car the car in front was let alone the number plate. Settled on this one after much research. It does record sound but none of them record it well unless you pay big money. That's the one I got, best thing is if I get a video of where it is in the car and you'll see size and position. It's not the smallest but for the money it seems to be the best quality for the price.

not sure why this is, we've two XVs in the household and both are still running around the 50-55 mark. I would suggest there's another issue. I drive with may car on auto on the aircon, but that should affect it much. things that can affect mpg this much tend to be mechanical a dragging brake caliper which is putting resistance, any evidence of smells? winter fuel shouldn't make much difference as I understand. do you use band fuel or supermarket. Brand fuels remain the same levels but supermarket and local fuel suppliers buy there fuel from wherever so whilst you're going to the same garage it may not be the same quality of fuel as last month if they've changed supplier. I only use shell standard diesel (XV doesn't seem to like the Nitro, makes the throttle a bit twitchy). might be worth talking to your local subaru garage if its under warranty or anything

I got a transcend 200, costs about £75 takes upto 30gb cards so records 4hrs, you can read number plates on playback, a lot you can't. Has an impact trigger which stores 10srconds before and 30seconds after impact. I've put a couple of vids up so you can see the quality, though youtube reduces the actual viewing quality, it's better on a laptop. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Will be honest Dan wife had s call back booked in to get a quote. When she had it she said it was an automated service and she just hung up and bought elsewhere. I think had it been a person on the end of the phone she'd have continued. Just some feedback. Thanks anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You just have to close your eyes and wade into the last 2 bends. the first couple of bends have straights after them so s good line out can make a big difference to a lap time too Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I've got dragon age on my list to pick up, need a skyrimy thing to play that's more rpg than gta. I'm switching between gta and forza h2 at the minute. But if anyone is on I'll play anything online. Still need to get a line of scoobies in gta somehow? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

You have to basically do the last 2 corners right twice in s row once so you start your hot lap fast and once to finish the lap, that's quite a challenge. Might try to shave a bit off my time later, I reckon there's another second in there Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Ha ha, in my old Opel manta I had a 3ft inflatable penguins that was strapped in the back. Obviously in a scoob it had to be a scoobydoo Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I like this plan, devious. Anyway, the woman that scuffed my wife's XV coughed up £141 tonight to pay for a new wheel arch guard. Maybe she'll be more careful parking next time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Well looks like the woman that hit my wife's car is going to settle and pay the £142 it's going to cost for a new trim. Looks like I'm taking the car in next week to get it done. Just off to clean them both now the weather is brightening up. Feel a wax and polish session coming on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Gambits got shares in clay cloth I reckon, either that or he thinks if he mentions them enough he'll get freebies [emoji6] Agree, no excuse to use a car wash unless you really hate your paintwork [emoji12] I'm actually leaving mine filthy in preference to using a car wash, much as that pains me Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Terrible, resorting to a car wash. You've sooo gone down in my estimation. [emoji6] Someone scraped down the side of my wife's car, fortunately it looks like the merest brush and rather than go through insurance and all that hassle, it looks like a little polish and it should come out, if not I'll be pity g the claim in, not seen it in daylight yet so won't know till tomorrow. Not having a great few months with cars all in all Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Well my poor little car looks like its been playing in dirty puddles all week. Well it kind of has been, been going to the same site in Chester all week down a crappy dark road, got to go there again tomorrow, looks like I'll be dropping into Shell garage tomorrow on the way home to apply some liberal use of their pressure washer [emoji2] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Best bet would be a remote mic mounted in engine bay out of the noise with a muffler on. But you'll be getting into proper kit then. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'm assuming from that vid, that the camera is mounted outside. If so you got no chance without some serious kit. You'll have to mount camera inside. Otherwise turn off the sound. The mics aren't much good anyway, if you can you could try an external mic with a muffler? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well it's just my opinion, and I'm no expert, but I know some dog behaviourists who really don't like his approach. Don't take my word as gospel as it's just an opinion. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

No, not a joke. He's not very respected, if at all over here by experienced dog owners or the animal behaviourists. His approach based on amichien bonding which is all to do with being the leader of the pack is very outdated and while will get results isn't the correct way to manage a dog. It's a negative reinforcement approach rather than a positive reward based approach. There's also rumours of electric shock collars being used and other negative methods. Shock collars are banned in the UK so I understand. The modern approach is more like children where the family is not seen as a pack but as a unit where the dog is a member. Rewarding positive behaviour and ignoring negative behaviour is the current approach. It's true that owners make bad dogs but I don't think his way is the best for the dog, though would probably work for the owner. I personally don't like his approach, just my personal opinion. I get the feeling from the thread I'm not alone. As for why I wouldn't want the same car, mainly because he's just to slimy and cheesy. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
