Thanks for the info mate. Do you know where the black wire ends up, if I'm looking at the right wire does it cross the floor pan from centre console then go up towards the A post.

I will test it tomorrow. If altering the Aerial doesn't work do you think it would be better off to have an aftermarket alarm system fitted.

Cheers mate, it is the one button keys and keypad, I do have the keypad number, it is both keys that have to be put against the car to open it, even with new batteries in them, I will have a look to see if I can see the antenna and reposition it. Do I need to remove the glove box or is it accessible from underneath??

Any idea how I do this Mr B? I wouldn't have a clue where to even start looking for it lol.

My car is starting to really annoy me now, the car will only open if you put the keys onto the windscreen, any further away and it will not open, I went up the town the other day and parked in a 20 min zone as I was only going to the bank, got back to the car and could not open it at all, went to H Samuel and got a new battery in the key and still only opened from as close as the windscreen. Any ideas please.

I have just changed the oil in my front and rear diffs and am going to do the gearbox next, I know I need to use dexron 3 oil but is there a brand you would recommend? ?

I want to put some all terrain tyres on my standard 16" alloys, only problem is that I cannot find any the same size as I have on now. Any ideas guys ??

Does anyone know where I can buy a roof rack for my 05 forester xt? I want one like the ones you see on off road landrover.

My wife alway takes the mickey saying " it's only 4 bolts and 20 minutes" normally something goes wrong and it take hours and hours. Will nip to local motor factors first thing to get some jubilee clips then cracking on with it. Hope it goes back together quicker than it took to take it apart.

Cheers for the info, was going to do my anti roll bar bushes at the same time as I just got some whiteline bushes today but may leave them for another day.

Thanks mate, thats a relief, just another question, is it OK to use normal jubilee clips as the wire spring ones were corroded on had to be snipped off.

Hi guys, not sure if I'm worrying unnecessarily but I've just started stripping my forester down ready to put a new rad in, so far I have done Drained coolant undone all brackets removed fans And now the bit I'm unsure off, I have disconnected the two small pipes at the bottom of the rad which I think are transmission coolant hoses and there appears to be oil coming out, I pushed the hose back on until I get some advice, I obviously need to remove these pipes but what is draining out and is there some thing that will need topping up other than coolant?? Advice very much appreciated.

My 2005 XT forester knocks when I go over bumps ( speed bumps / eneven road surfaces) and looking for advice as to what the most likely cause would be. I have already changed the drop links and was going to do the roll bar bushes next, what do you think??

Any help would be appreciated, to lock and unlock my 2005 forester XT I have to put my key right next to the windscreen for it to work, I have changed the battery in my key but still cant be opened / locked from any distance over 6 inches away. Any ideas please.

I want to change the diff oil in my forester but what oil do I use?? I have just had a towbar fitted to tow our caravan and want to make sure alls good to hopefully avoid any problems. I asked our local Halfords but the lad was about 10 so want an expert oppinion, What do you all use ??

My 05 xt does exactly the same, when I bought it I was told you have to press the button on the key whilst turning it ??? If I dont the alarm goes off. Also my key only unlocks and locks the car if I put the key next to the windscreen, even with new batteries, any ideas??

Not sure but I like the look off the diesel forester.

Decided to sell my 2005 Subaru forester 2.0 xt turbo, auto, silver, full heated leather, electronic climate control, full subaru history apart from last one, seviced 1000 miles ago, file load of main dealer reciepts, 12 months mot, 4 months tax, 110k, one previous owner with all paperwork from new, drives really nice, has the odd car park marks here and there as to expected on a 9 year old car. A very well looked after car. £3500 ovno
