  1. Evening all what hand helds OBD2 metres are you guys using? mine clears faults fine but doesn't read all codes for some reason, see a nice Snap On at the garage today but don't really fancy spending a grand on one. Like the idea of the Live readings, could be handy! cheers Aaron
  2. rear shocks have arrived from Pedders to replace the SLS…going to see how the springs cope before i order them. Going to get it booked in, i should be raised by the end of the month
  3. i went with Hertz speakers, 2 way Coax in rears & 2 way Components in the front, backed with dynamat, powered from the head unit & get some great bass (certainly not sub levels) but you can hear all the ranges
  4. not ordered anything yet but had comms with them, they certainly seem to know their stuff & come across of not pushing anything onto you if they feel you don't need it.
  5. like the way they put the advert in a font you can barely see…yellow on white & white on white.
  6. customs released them & they arrived yesterday. I have MOT on monday so see how that goes, then look into getting them fitted, I know i have a shock failing on the rear. enquired about full geometry calibration today at Wheels in Motion (had previous cars done) & they said the Forester is fully adjustable on the camber so thats handy. I will keep you posted.
  7. well i have gone & ordered the parts, so will post up my thoughts when i get them fitted.
  8. looking at lifting my Forester, will need to change the rear as its sagging now & thinking of putting the Pedders kit on. thinking of doubling up with this kit if anybody has used them/had any experiences? http://www.subtle-solutions.com/product_info.php?cPath=21_24_26_45&products_id=97 I have been in contact, $300 delivered to the UK.
  9. update: fuel economy still averaging 31mpg, on road still fine, might have almost got stuck yesterday as i went into a waterlogged woodland, fortunately the AWD system pulled me out of trouble with mud flying everywhere. today I have been checking out a permission so spent quite a lot of time on dry fields, I am now thinking of lifting my car. (see other post)
  10. all speakers in & happy so far with the sound i have, nice & clear. since everything is being powered off the head unit i used the existing loom to drive the speakers, i found this page to identify the polarity. http://ae64.com/Forester-pinout.htm
  11. TBH i was expecting to see slightly better quality speakers, they can't be all bad as they've done 12 years service
  12. rears are fine as they do not fully open, so it stays above the speaker, however the fronts will need brackets made up.
  13. Ive had my car a couple of years now, when i bought the car the standard head unit had some liquid spilt on it & would no longer tune in. So i did away with that & stuck in an Alpine 136BT DAB receiver with hands free. I went with the wire windscreen antenna to keep it in uniform to the FM loop. I have now installed rear 5" coax speakers Hertz DCX 130.3 2 way backed with dynamat, next weekend i will be doing the fronts which are 6.5" Component Hertz DSK 165.3 again backed with dynamat. Im not after big sounds, just crisping up & getting a better sound than the standard system.
  14. yup, Tony's a good guy
  15. Chesham, Buckinghamshire. but i think they have approved locations too
  16. I'm sure whatever you get you will be happy with them. best way of getting the best out of your tyres is ensuring pressures are correct & that the geometry on the car is good. previous cars i took to http://www.wheels-inmotion.co.uk the forrester seems good on tyre wear so its just a case on keeping an eye on tracking
  17. a friend has Yoko Geolanders on his Pajero, he got stuck a couple of weeks ago…they are a nice looking tyre & say its bad driving over tyres. im liking my Falken's & given my decision again i would purchase them again, my Mrs has Falken Ziex on her car & I had them fitted on my previous car & had good wear & grip from them. not had Michelins for years so don't know what their current range are like.
  18. still happy, fuel economy is still averaging 31mpg, certain road surfaces are a little louder, still have not got stuck off road & we have had some very sticky weather lately. no signs of wear yet, think that will occur when the roads dry out properly & some some summer heat gets into them. Generally happy, would certainly buy them again.
  19. im an fan of Mintex, they do a really good performance range http://www.camskill.co.uk/m10b142s0p0/Subaru_Impreza_Turbo_Parts_Tuning_Spares_and_Accessories_Mintex_Performance_Brake_Pads_Mintex_M1144_-
  20. good tip bitman, the mud/soil holds onto the moisture for a long time. im not fussed about the body itself but get in the arches & the underside with a jet wash, its worth keeping on top of.
  21. it wasn't that deep! think at the deepest point it was no more than 18" which did feel quite heavy on the car. thats a complete guess, think it would have swamped my wellies.
  22. my Forester is a screw on, remember the first time i took it off it was FT so hold the shaft through the gaiter as Tlag suggests.
  23. still happy with my tyres, economy still at 30/31mpg. todays adventure was water
  24. thanks Mr B, I have already had a play around with it & put a few welds on it, was just going to take it off altogether.
  25. coping fine, i did an acceleration test, booted it in 2nd, mud flying everywhere & just flew forwards, it didn't dig in at all.
