  1. Cheers all, got it cleaned yesterday then it has started raining - not happy ! Found a few more marks after cleaning but I anticipated that as it is a 9 year old car ! So, it needs a basic service, cambelt, poss pulleys if I can run to them and I think front pads too but hopefully that is all. As regards letting oil warm up in previous reply what are we talking - 10 mins ? ten miles ?.
  2. Well finally got it - 05 WRX Sportwagon 110k with main stealer but unfortunately cambelt was not done at 100k but I can live with that. Bit different to the porsche in that like my sons mazda and his celica before I have to use the revs a bit more but still quick. nice noise even on a standard pipe. Have to drive it for a bit then consider whether to mod ! If so what is the first and most cost effective mod ? I will post pics when cleaned. Cheers for advice so far Mark
  3. Anyone on here know of any sensible insurance co's cause i have just has a quote off Adrian Flux double my Porsche quote -£500+ 10 years ncb and I am an old ****** !
  4. I must admit I do still struggle to pay decent money for cars over 100k even though my experience tells me different.
  5. Cheers, Nice to hear that !i think cars in genral are lasting longer now - last four cars 2 Vauxhalls and 2 Alfas were 150+ without any real bother but my first 2 cars Escort and Alfasud didn't even make 100k.
  6. Got full main stealer up to 100k and now on 109k though just phoned them and they can't find any record of the cambelt being changed at a 100k so I guess i will have to phone the owner. They want £500 for cambelt service which seems a lot - not that i will go for them anyway.
  7. Thank, I pick the car up on Saturday so will phone around I guess ! I have been reading about the life of the turbo being around 100 k or is that rubbish ?
  8. Cheers mate - waiting to hear from the main dealer what was done on last service at 100 k and will go from there.
  9. I am in Ely mate but willing to travel for decent service !
  10. Anyone know of any indy servicing in cambs - well cambs norfolk suffolk border ? cheers
  11. Do the pulleys only need changing once ? Trouble is I didn't get chance to hammer it as much as I would have liked cause all the roads around were country lanes - mind you I think I **** the owner up a bit ;) . Not having had a Turbo car before apart from the Mrs Figaro :D do you still have to let them idle after a 'spirited' drive before shutting down ?
  12. You are not kidding - I thought Harston Porsche were bad. The car appears to have 10 stamps in the book to 100k - is that anywhere near ? Oh, and a one owner car which I always feel a little bit happier with,
  13. Cheers mate, I am buying the car in Bucks so might be worth contacting the guy you mentioned. The car does have full MD history from a Subaru garage in Kent so I will give them a bell also. They certainly knew how to charge the guy as the cambelt service was 1200 quid on the invoice !
  14. Yeah, I am used to travelling for cars - looked a the WRX sportwagon today and bought it ! Well I hope I did cause I left a deposit and I am picking it up at the weekend. Now I need some more advice please - 109k with full Main dealer up to 100k last May so needs a service soon and I can see on the invoice the cambelt was changed at 50k but without consulting the dealer I don't know if it has been changed since ! If not what is the likely cost for this service at an indy with and without the cambelt change ? Saying that I did manage to kock another £200 off the already reduced price. Oh it is an 05 model. Cheers Mark
  15. Cheers folks, trouble is both cars either end of the country from me so I would prefer to choose one really otherwise its gonna cost me a fortune in fuel.
  16. HI Folks, :) After selling my Boxster a month ago I realised as much as I love my Vectra I need some thing a bit quicker ! Choice is 05 both WRX Sportwagon or Legacy 3.0 Rn Sport seq Auto. Both have FSH and both seem good value around 3k. I know they are gonna be thirsty but the Porsche was fairly anyway so not a real concern. I have two dogs and I am not sure they would fit into the Sportwagon and it does seem to get a bit of stick for the plain interior. Any opinions would be gratefully received !! Thanks Mark
