2.0 impreza turbo idle
I had the same issue. Cleaning the ICAV with Electrical Contact Cleaner helped it for about 4 months and started again.

Subaru Impreza Classic 1998 :)
Hey :) She's up for sale. As reluctant of a sale as it is, she needs to go. I've got a Subaru Type R on deposit :D (it's a bit of a beast ;) But new thread when I've picked it up) Quick Copy / Paste from the Advert "Hi and welcome to my Advert. Sadly I've got to sell my beloved Classic Subaru Impreza. I'm only selling to help fund a new Subaru project, wish I could keep both, will be sad to see her go. Subaru Enthusiast owned, has always been my dream car for as long as I can remember! It's a 1998' Subaru Impreza Turbo 2000 UK in rare Reddish Blue. Low mileage at 87500 miles, due to it being stored for 3 years before I had it. I'm the second owner, first being a Policeman. We've both always warmed up and cooled down the car (something which my neighbours LOVE at 5:30am every morning!) It has Full Service History, every 6 months within a few days, without fail. No expense spared. Just over 11k in receipts for the services alone! HPI clear etc. MOT till 21.01.2017 The car was fully standard when I got it, except for 16" Speedline alloys. Also genuine Subaru Impreza Fog Light Covers (hard to find!) I'll get the not so good out the way, baring in mind it's an 18 year old car: It has the common Subaru Piston Slap from cold, but soon goes away. This has been assured by Subaru Specialists and my own research that it wont damage or shorten the life of the engine... it's basically just a bit annoying in the cold. The passenger side rear arch has formed a slight bit of rust, again a common Subaru "issue". Finally there's a few age related stone chips and tiny dents which aren't really noticeable unless you're looking for them. The GOOD!! I've upgraded the front brakes to 4 pot WRX PRO callipers with dimple and grooved discs. (with receipts for £700) Rear spats, side skirts and mirrors colour coded. Flush boot lid with high rise spoiler. (I can give you the original boot lid and low spoiler if you'd prefer) Type R front splitter, colour coded. Crystal Headlights and Sidelights (you can choose between Crystal Clear or Crystal Black or original). Crystal fog lights, with genuine Subaru Covers. (normal fog lights if you prefer) STI rear lights (original if you'd prefer) Decat Scorpion Exhaust (they made exhausts for Prodrive) I also have the original if you'd prefer. I'll give you the Cat for MOT regardless. Sounds great, not too loud and not too quiet; just right in my opinion. Forge VTA Valve. (recirc if you prefer) Cosworth panel filter. Alcatek ECU mapped by Andrew Carr with switchable anti-lag, launch control, shift light and two maps (Eco map). So should be around 280bhp. Interior is immaculate except for a few scratches. Seats etc look like new! Clean engine bay, with blue hoses (obviously can be removed). Last year whilst getting colour coded I had the drivers side rear arch repaired. I got a genuine donor arch (not fibreglass) to cut out the rust bubble that was starting to form. They sprayed half the rear door to blend it through, so impossible to tell. Rear tinted windows. (can be removed) Also has a Sigma Immobiliser. This is a genuine, very clean, fast appreciating Classic. Price is £3995 (price reflects condition), but open to sensible offers. Sorry, but obviously no Part Exchange. This car is my pride and joy and has been helped and maintained by Scott / Neil at ScoobySpares and Steve / Richard at Cotton Competition. Please no "tyre kickers" or "test pilots". I'll happily take you out in the car. People with proof of Insurance to drive any car, can take it for a drive with me. But if damaged then you buy. More photos of anything at your request. (I'm aware that the pictures show the older rear lights, due to STI lights being a new addition) Genuine inquiries only. You can text or phone me on 07456 408 038. Advertised elsewhere (ScoobySpares and others), so I reserve the right to remove from auction at any time. Thank you in advance, Chris" There's also a "Build Thread" on here that I'm struggling to find for some reason :/ http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Subaru-Impreza-Turbo-2000-UK-Rare-Colour-1998-Low-Mileage-Full-Service-Hist-/182093185023?

My Subaru Impreza 2000 UK Story
Hello! Haven't really added anything to this in a while. But I've now added STI rear lights and Black Crystal headlights next week. Due to a seized brake calliper and an alarming amount of smoke... I've now upgraded to WRX Pro callipers with grooved and dimpled discs. I can stop!! Also after passing my MOT with no advisories, it was time for more noise... I've had a decat fitted by Scoobyspares in Fleetwood and ooooh, Andy Carr happened to be there too. So it's now remapped with 2 maps, Launch Control, Shift Light and mild Antilag. What a difference! Little drive by at Beacon Fell https://youtu.be/zURe4UtZeyg Ooooh, little flames https://youtu.be/3e-iyzSc5JM When I pick the headlights up, I'll also be having a Stage 1 Exedy Clutch fitted. Is it worth doing the Flywheel at the same time?? Chris

Clunk / Thud / Scrape Sound...
That was my thoughts too. I'm going to wait till next pay cheque and get CotComp to do a gearbox and diff oil change... See if there's any metal shards in the old diff oil. How much am I looking at for a new diff? Plus, looks like I'll be getting a brake upgrade if not :) Thanks guys :)

Clunk / Thud / Scrape Sound...
Hello, I haven't been on for a while! I've just come back from a 1000 mile road trip around Scotland (pictures should be up soon) Nearly back to Blackpool I noticed a thud sound from the back as I change down into second gear? When I reverse I getting a horrible grinding sound occasionally too. Again when changing down in to second I can hear a grinding and a horrible grind / rev sound? Excuse the wonderful car noise explanations... I've taken it to CotComp and he's had a look but couldn't get the car to make the noise. He looked at my discs and said that they could probably to with replacing as the corrosion will be a lot worse inside. But again today I got the horrible thud occasionally and reversing it did the scratchy grinding sound that sounded like bad engine revs.... Any ideas?

Northern Big One Sunday 21st June 2015.Sign up
We won a lot of prices in the raffle, but then we did buy a load of tickets... One guy in our group missed out by one number nearly every time You could barely hear the speakers where we were either and our stand was basically next to it.... Over night camping would be good, plus the hangover would be gone by the time I had to drive home

I was looking for you guys, (I was part of LADS ) But I couldn't find you. I walked round SOCOM a few times but didn't even realise that it was SOC right next to it! Amused me that the Aston was used as a "show car" for the cleaning and polishing products, but then didn't even make it to the final two ^_^ I wish I'd know they were doing an auction, I would've bought cash with me :( .... or just not spent what I had on Cider... I did want to buy a Samco hose too, but quickly realised I had no idea what part of the engine it was supposed to be in! Also, did anyone else get sunburnt?? OR am I just that pasty that I burn when it's overcast too??
- refurb alloy wheel colour, just another NUBE

Subaru Newbie Turbo 2000
I can get a nice shine just using wax but yours looks like glass! I had a look on eBay and they all look rubbish or big chunky plastic. Or are they these? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/130660308395?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

My Subaru Impreza 2000 UK Story
So she's finally coming together (look wise) New splitter, flushed boot and high rise spoiler. Colour coded mirrors, side skirts and rear spats :) I also had a rust problem on my rear arch, so found an import arch and had it cut and then the new piece welded in. https://www.facebook.com/swautosprayltd did the work for me, initially had colour match issues so I had to wait a few extra days. So they had the car in for 5 days in total. Due to not wanting the paint to look any different they sprayed into the rear door, rear panel on both sides to flush it through.

My Subaru Impreza 2000 UK Story
So slowly added a few things :) Just some vinyl light covers until I can afford the STI lights. £7.99 :) My other bulbs were misbehaving, so put some LED's in, which are a lot brighter. (Notice how I've got a bright supot just where my Turbo kicks in :P ) Forge VTA Valve. PSSSSSH!

back arches
Sorry, yeah that's just for my rear drivers side.

back arches
I've gone to two body shops the last two days, both quoted me £250. They'll cut out the rust, weld in a donor panel I got off a rust free import, spray the panel and half the rear door to get the colour blended in properly. Chris.

Dump/ Recirc/ Blow Off (Confused)
Sorry Stants, is that blow off/ dump valves that are bad for turbo life, or blanking plates?
-
Dump/ Recirc/ Blow Off (Confused)
Blanking plates? I can only assume it's bad for the engine? Are dump valves bad for the engine?

Dump/ Recirc/ Blow Off (Confused)
So, I want something to make my 98 Subaru Turbo make this sort of sound https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WqACDuwR9w0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QBUIsYa_E5M <--- More like this one. Is that just with a Forge Valve and filter? OR do you have any videos of yours that sound better? I've just got a Cosworth Panel Filter and Scorpion centre and Backbox. Would I need to get it mapped when I put the Forge Valve (or any valve on)? Does it badly affect petrol usage? Any negative affects on the engine or turbo? (read up and found quite a bit of scaremongering... ) Thanks in Advance, Chris
