  1. Happy Birthday humph67!

  2. Hi My local subaru garage sorted it out but they had to take it to a main dealer for forced regeneration. Turns out mine is euro4 not euro5 , Told me how to tell is manifold cover is plastic on euro5 2010 and metal on 2009 up to September 2009. What the difference is between 4 and 5 don' know. I agree with Mr B waste of time.
  3. Hi Thanks for your interest, at the moment average 38 mpg I don't do a lot of motorway driving and rarely use 5th and 6th gear. Mileage is 51k .Only had the car two months so I don't know if it's happened before . Had my last car for ten years, never heard of a DPF until last week . Will update after Wed .
  4. Yes, It's an option . If all modern diesel engines have these ( soot boxes ) fitted it seems unreasonable that they are difficult to service or clean , considering the amount of short journeys we do in UK .
  5. Yes , thanks. From what I can gather there are not to many options.
  6. Driving along today and the DPS warning light starts flashing without any prior notice , so refuelled with the expensive stuff and drove it up and down the motorway, but to no avail light still flashing. Will be seeking professional advice in the morning , there is no lack of performance any ideas please. will update when I know more .
  7. Sorry for the delay in reply, I'm a bit cautious but intend to try and lubricate the fan by lifting the back label and oil with the very slightest drop of machine oil .
  8. Hi sounds like a noisy fan like on a computer .
  9. Messing about in the garage yesterday , I decided to take the shroud off the bottom of the engine. ( Forester 2010 D ). There are two braided ground straps left & right side of engine . One of these had completely corroded away . After reading how important these are and the effects the electrical circuit I replaced it with a much stronger copper cable .Wonder why there so flimsy and I guess are only replaced when things go wrong.
  10. Thank's for your reply.
  11. Hi, had my Forester Diesel for a couple of week's now and I'am getting used to it. driving around town I find that I only use 1,2,and 3rd gear.Don't think its designed to be driven at 30mph in 4th. Would like to know if a simple repair /service manual is available, looks like changing the fuel filter could be a bit tricky, oil filter on top of engine easy accessible.Like the car very much, sat nav a bit noisy .no one as made any comments on my previous post. Thank's for any comments
  12. Hi , Built in navigation system ,reversing camera ,DVD, radio , bluetooth thingy with no name. makes a rather loud hum , sounds like a cooling fan is this normal and can navigation disc be updated. think it's a Kenwood sounds a bit like a food mixer. Thanks in advance for any advice or coments. oh! by the way it's in my 2010 forester navigation plus
