  1. Thanks, I've dealt with Prodrift from Kent in the past and he currently has an older STi for sale. He has doubts over wether the satnav/mph readout can be changed on the newer models and he has a lot of experience doing this. I foolishly thought that Subaru would be happy for one of their cars to be seen on UK roads but, from the lack of response, it seems not.

  2. Dear all, as an owner of various JDM Subaru in the past (Legacy BP5 and DIT) I know some of the drawbacks. Unfortunately, the heart rules the head and I'm now very tempted by a nearly new Levorg STi. Converting the Legacys meant replacing the head units. Having one imported is straightforward (Prodrift) but conversion of the tech is the problem. Specifically the satnav and the speed display. Changing the language is easy but the rest a potentially expensive unknown. Both my local dealer and Subaru UK have not seen fit to reply to an enquiry for information. The current UK Outback has the same display as the JDM models. So .... does anyone know of an independent specialist who could give me realistic advice to help make a decision? Thanks in advance.

  3. We're moving and both my previous Legacys are now history. The following are gathering dust in the garage and are hopefully of use to someone else.

    Rear "Legacy" mark - 93073AG390 - new, unused - £5

    BP5 R/R Upper Scuff Plate - 94061AJ06A - new, unused - £5

    BP5 Cover Assy Steering Column - 34341AG010JC - 2 of, one new, one used - £10/£5

    BP5 F door sill step plate - 94060AJ060 - 2 of, used - £5 each

BP5 drive shaft - used, obtained direct from Japan but never used by me - £15

    BP5 - FEBEST 0811-B13 Inner CV joint - new, unsed - £15

    BP5 F Screen Scuttle Panel - 91411AJ000 -  used - £10

    BM - Shift Interlock Solenoid - 35173AJ001 - new, unused - £10

BM - Auto change gear knob - used, unmarked - £7.50

All can be collected from me in S.Herts. Postage on the drive shaft, CV joint and scuttle panel would be expensive due to their size/weight. The rest £5 p & p. Photos available on request.

  4. After unfortunately having to part ways with my BRG Legacy, listed below are parts I no longer need. Some apply to the BRG 2010-2014 Legacy, others to its predecessor, a BP5 03-09  Legacy. All I would like for the used parts is the cost of p & p, and for the new parts, any sensible offer.

    USED

    94060AJ060 - INTERIOR REAR RIGHTSILL COVER x 2 - 10-12 Legacy

    34341AG000 - UPPER & LOWER STEERING COLUMN COVER - 03-09 Legacy

  5. Looks like theCVT gearbox in my 2012 JDM Legacy DIT is shot. Code TR6590GBDCA, FA20E SZHDA. Replacements are rare and expensive. There is a 'box in the UK from a 2014 WRX S4, code TR690GB9CA, FA20. The ratios are identical. I've tried asking Subaru technical for some help with no success. Would the WRX 'box fit? It's easily 4 figures plus the cost of swapping the boxes so I really need to be sure. Any help appreciated.

  6. Can anyone help with interpreting the fault codes on my 2012 JDM Legacy 2.0 DIT? Its currently with my local Subaru dealer who have come to a dead end with it. Subaru technical UK cannot assist and, there is no practical means of obtaining the info from Japan.

  7. Help really needed as I'm close to imploding. V. brief story so far - 2012 2.0 DIT Wagon with 99k on the clock and CVT 'box - jerky gearchange at lower speeds. Gearbox oil change, no improvement but after long journey dash lights up with multiple warnings including flashing gearbox oil temp. 2nd 'box change plus internal filter and, because excessive wear on part,  (piston complete clutch transfer bearing) replaced. Long drive, smooth 'box, all seems good. Day later, brief drive - all warning lights on but otherwise drives fine. Options? Work so far done by non-Subaru but trusted garage. Considering swallowing dealer charges in hope that they can diagnose - any and all advice welcome.

  8. Help/clarification needed for the following - on a 2012 2.0 DIT with the twinscroll FA20 engine, one fuel injector has failed. It refuses to budge at the moment. Using the VIN and Partsouq, the fuel intake diagram shows the injector passing through what looks like a sleeve then finally a seal od some sort. But, neither of those parts are given a part number, just an asterisk. I have obtained a new complete injector via Subaru UK at great cost but fear that when we extract the old one the sleeve will probably be knackered as well. Just to add to the mix, parts diagrams from other online sources with the same details and date of manufacture do not show the sleeve or the seal at all! Any help appreciated.

  9. Both to fit UK model and all intended for or taken from our 10 plate WRX-s - steering column cover (2 of) and 5sp gear change mechanism ( replaced with short-shift parts). One of the plastic columns has some scrtach marks, the second like new. The gear change is exactly as removed and undamaged. Photos available if required, noe reasonable offer refused.

  10. Sitting in my garage awaiting new owners are a number of OEM parts from my previous BP5 wagon and my current BRG wagon, including - Mk4 r dr panel, inner CV joint (new), Mk5 tail pipe cutters, windcsreen cowl, f/o/s headlight, CVT gear change stick and r drive shaft. All are undamaged with few signs of age or use. Any sensible offer seriously considfered, collection from h/a EN11, possible for big stuff. Photos of all available if requested.

  11. Thanks, finally found one in Japan from BeForward. Good service and a keen price if you ignore the duty! Typically though, I didn't need it - the stubborn hub which we thought would damage the drive shaft coming off actually gave up more easily than predicted

So, anyone want a used rear drive shaft? Boxed and untouched as received from Japan. They don't do returns so it's eBay otherwise. £20 plus p & p to club members. Part number as above.

  12. I'm struggling to find one of these but it may well be the case that the same part is used on UK Legacys and Imprezas of the samer vintage. My JDM part is 28401AJ030. The same part on a UK Impreza is 28401FG030. I've tried unsuccessfully to find the crresponding number on a UK CVT 2.5 Legacy or Outback. Firstly, what does the "AJ" and "FG" characters denote in the part numbers? Secondly, can anyone check the numbers for the UK models or direct me to a reliable online source, and lastly, does anyone have a used part which should fit for sale. All help really appreciated.

  13. Brief history: Our 2010 WRX-s developed a gearbox whine. Unknown cause but strip down necessary. Found this 'box in Germany with advertised 8km only. Went for it but on arrival, damage to selector shaft. Long-winded dispute with seller who finally declined to collect. So, we're left with car on ramp and 2 unusable 'boxes. Finally repaired original and had this 'box examined, repaired and reconditioned as well. Receipts from professional 'box repairer to verify. Looking for circa £650.IMG_20190706_112529.thumb.jpg.c5fccb60cc481be621808f81733a6f67.jpg

  14. Hi, I know its been a while since your post but did you find a solution? My Legacy is doing the same thing. I've had it since February and initially all was fine but in the last month or two it just won't stop intermittent wiping on auto despite the screen being clear and no rain falling Thanks for any response.

  15. I'm trying to work out the right way to wire in a Kenwood reversing camera to a Kenwood head unit in my Mk5 Legacy wagon. The harness which comes with the camera has an easy plug connection at the camera end then a yellow plug and two bare wires, red and black at the other end. The yellow plug goes into the appropriate socket at the back of the unit but then I get confused. Also coming out of the back of the head unit is a short wire labelled "reversing sensor". The camera needs power and the head unit needs to know when I select reverse - which wire goes where?

  16. About to have the clutch changed (together with an exchange low mileage 'box) in a 2010 WRX-s that's done about 60k. Bought 6 months old the car has always had a very heavy clutch - commented on by various Subaru mechanics but with no real explanation. Had a new clutch 2 years ago in an attempt to ease the pressure to no avail. No idea what make of clutch was fitted then. So, any suggestions/recommendations for the next clutch. Exedy suggest only one for normal road use which I can get for about £220. It's my wife's car, not driven too hard but it was remapped in 2016 to  284bhp.  Thanks in advance.

  17. Taken from my 2012 JDM Legacy BRG 2.0GTD DIT. As new, with no damage or marks. Part data shows 91121AJ110 as OEM part number. Typically on the rear of the grille are two other part numbers so take your pick. Postage will be pricey to prevent damage or collection possible if practical. £50 plus p and p.

  18. After 4 good years with the BP5 it was time to change and, when this JDM BRG Wagon came up I couldn't resist . Bit of a culture shock though, from 5MT to CVT plus all the bells and buttons found on a relatively new car. 296 brake so it's no slouch - does anyone else have one of these? It's a 2.0GT DIT.
