IHI Turbo And TD Information
I'm running 1.35bar and it's making 1bar by 3800rpm full boost at 4200rpm Running decat up-pipe, sports cat and decat centre, All 3" from turbo back though. Car has pretty poor compression too that won't help. I've noticed on my graph that my TD05 holds better than VF34 charts, it drops from 19.5 psi to 17psi, seen some VF's go from 22psi to nearly 15psi.

IHI Turbo And TD Information
Not sure if it's a rumour or not but apparently the company who makes Andy's Hybrids for him has gone bust. I bet a 310bhp WRX with an Hybrid TD04 is a whole lot of fun on the road. Full boost at 2500rpm!!!

Replacement seats for WRX
I had some bucket seats custom made for my 2003 Blobeye WRX, I had to do the resistor mod as my drivers seat had an airbag. Saved around 40kg in weight which equates to around 9bhp if you believe the formulas.

IHI Turbo And TD Information
I think the early STI's did have a TD05 and Newage WRX's only had the TD04. I think some of the early EVO's might have run a TD05 too. Anyone know what the quickest spooling single scroll aftermarket turbo is for the Impreza that supports up to 350bhp? I like my TD05 but it's dead below 3500.

New owner first mod
The TD05 I run is a strong Turbo and at higher boosts the DV vents to air anyway. As far as a few of us worked out on another site air entering the turbo intake pipe from the OE recirc DV creates a pressure that blocks new air entering past the MAF which confuses the ECU.

New owner first mod
I run my VTA with a stiff setting on the spring so it mainly vents back through the Turbo. I've read that this also causes a moment of rich running but I don't understand how it's different to venting to the intake from the recirc valve.

IHI Turbo And TD Information
What TD models are found on Subarus just TD05 and TD04?

New owner first mod
Does running a VTA cause lean running for a split second when the throttle is reapplied? I would have thought when you vent to atmosphere, thus not pressuring up the turbo intake pipe via recirc, then air still being sucked in by the Turbo (that is being metered and fueled for off throttle) will be getting built up in the empty intercooler.

Next question sorry! Exhausts
Just fit a Blitz Nur spec back box. Remap isn't essential just for a back box and it'll be very very loud.

decat/ downpipe
Yes, asap. You can run without remap for a time if you stay off boost. Decatting without a remap won't give much power just a quicker spool time, boost spikes with the chance of detonation and a CEL. If you remap after decat the car will generate up to 20bhp, run far safer and probably more economically.

decat/ downpipe
0.5 BAR will feel sluggish. Put a sports cat downpipe on it, that way you'll know if you make target boost as it'll feel rapid and it'll run a bit safer until you get a remap. A quick test to see if you can make boost is to pull the vac hose off the actuator nipple when the car is warmed up during the hottest part of the day and floor it in 2nd gear. The car should make around 1.4 bar. Don't floor it in 3rd gear upwards as you'll most probably get a violent fuel cut. If the car feels much faster then you know you don't have a bad boost leak, "blocked cat" or stuck open wastegate etc.

Decat...Will I get CEL?
I removed the up-pipe and centre section cats on my 2003 WRX and no CELS. As soon as I got a Sports cat downpipe I got a CEL within 50 miles, I could clear the emissions related code with a phone app but as soon as I drove it steady on the motorway the sports cat would get cold and throw the CEL again. I expect a full decat on a Newage will throw a CEL more often. An unmapped decat on an Hawk is pretty risky, especially if you are using 95 or 97 fuel. I'd like to know how a mapper deals with the 02 Sensor to stop the CEL's.
