  1. Not done much the last 6 months, wife has been taking my money wanting her car to cooo
  2. I need another engine, my last 3 mappers have all told me the engine is fine! I always think mappers should clean the panel air-filter, maf sensor and check for exhaust/air leaks or incorrect turbo pill before a map but they never do.
  3. My instagram mainly has pics of a rather large house cat https://www.instagram.com/ludo_worlds_biggest_cat/
  4. Looks like my mate's old Scooby.
  5. We need a drag strip leaderboard!
  6. And 12.44 with a 3.8 second 0-60mph time, could have gone quicker with decent tyres, but as it was I just couldn't stop spinning in 1st and a little bit in 2nd.
  7. Edged a little closer to 11's today:
  8. Just followed! My instagram isn't really Subaru orientated https://www.instagram.com/ludo_worlds_biggest_cat/
  9. Just 4 nuts! I'm still wondering if I should take it off for the 11.9 attempt. I kinda just want the car to look good on the vids! I read I'd get a hike in torque with uprated headers and I'm trying to avoid going past 310lbft. I'm gonna try and find out which are the lightest tyres I can get, I really don't want to go too sticky. With just 307lbft and a long 1st gear traction shouldn't be an issue on a hot day.
  10. Today I took all the speakers out. I was hoping to save over 2kg weight but it totaled just over 1kg in the end.
  11. Not much of an update but the car is now 1.15kg lighter. rear speaker nearly blew out of my hand!
  12. I was a member of Yorkshire Scoobies and they all used Rotherham or PVD. I stayed with the Scooby Clinic but they were a bit hit n miss. As it stands I've no more localish tuners to try.
  13. The fastest stock bottom end Subaru in the world has a 2.5! It has over 600bhp and was run hard for a couple of years before the owner wanted a forged engine. The tuner who built it says the 2.5 tolerances can be a bit hit and miss out of the factory but when you get a good one they can take good power. Another US tuner claimed it was poor ecutek/open source or un-mapped mods mapping that was killing 2.5 lumps coming into their garage with many having failure on the cylinder nearest the hot turbo/up-pipe/downpipe. Apparently the 2.5 is more prone to boost creep and det due to more gasses so a good mapper is essential. These are all US spec Imprezas though
  14. Scoobyclinic took my subframe brace off my 2003 WRX when I took the car in for weight saving, they said it was part of what they do to save weight. I felt no difference in handling but tbh I don't push my car on UK bends.
  15. The WRX is a great car, so much more efficient than my old EVO IV and my mates EVO V. 35mpg v's 23mpg and my 240bhp WRX killed my 280bhp EVO and when I got it to around 285bhp my mates 380bhp EVO 5 couldn't live with it. I'd love to know accurate transmission losses for the WRX, STI and EVO as there's definitely a difference between the 3.
  16. I have it too. Pretty loud. I wouldn't map for a cat back either or the decat up-pipe. I did fit a sportscat downpipe and checked out the fueling and it needed a tweak.
  17. My TD04 was quite noisey at 1bar but my TD05 at 1.3bar is quiet as hell :(
  18. I've still got the original clutch in my 332bhp 03 WRX and I launch hard at the drag lights at 6,000rpm.
  19. My wife passed her test last year and bought a 190bhp MK4 TDI. I loved it she hated it, selling it after 2 months, I was very very sad to see it go. 66.6mpg and tons of torque at 1800rpm
  20. what kinda mm can you get away with raising if you find yourself hitting speed bumps before you have to align again? 0?
  21. Put some Water Wetter in today!
  22. Ha, it's just a photoshop. I've thought about a fmic, but it means added weight and more lag for general driving, my turbo doesn't kick in until 3800 as it is :( I don't really want to add more power either. Suntek sport! They are ok for dry launching but I really would like a lightweight performance tyre and I'll have to do my homework. As for the boot spoiler I've agonised over removing it for the strip.
  23. It's very addictive! Handling fast doesn't interest me at all, especially with how bad our roads are so the feeling of fast 0-60mph (0-100mph on the strip) acceleration is everything. I'm just in 4th over the line and it feels a very long gear! I have a recent vid below showing how long my 2nd and 3rd gears are but a lot of people say the 6 speed also hits 60ish in 2nd?!
  24. I'd guess around 1270kg, I've just fitted a 7kg race battery but there's a lot in the pipeline - Polycarbonate windows, carbon fiber panels, carbon fiber propshaft, boot wheelwell raising, speaker removal, lightweight tyres, lighter calipers/disks, lightweight steering wheel. I Might consider ditching the ABS. In the long run I want to dig deep into the 11's whilst raising MPG as a bonus. I kinda like the fact the car would beat any Stock production Subaru on the 1/4 mile and is still below the maximum power levels for the often overlooked but efficient Newage WRX. It's nice to have a bit of headroom for when the block, tyres and oils heat up to help protect the box and rods! A few 700hp+ STI's have run at my local strip and they can't improve on my 0-60foot times so it's definitely a case of making the car lighter and more efficient. It's kinda new territory for the WRX has most 2002-2015 Imprezas need around 380-450hp to manage the time I got on a damp cold track. I'm going to change my gearbox oil soon to Millers Nanodrive low friction oil as most of the drivetrain losses come from the clutch and gearbox oil pump apparently!
