  1. I think it is just a facelift, rather than a new model. Standard on the Premium model is 7 inch sat nav screen, DAB radio, sunroof and keyless entry with start/stop button. Dealer could not tell me anything else at the moment.
  2. Not seen any pics yet, but seems to be more of a facelift than a new model. Just the extras listed above, that I have been told about. Dealer still has a few of the "current" model, which I suppose will be sold off asap, and I would have got one of those, if I had not wanted the spare wheel and the Venetian Red.
  3. Snake pass and Cat and Fiddle pass in the Derbyshire Peaks can be "interesting", especially if the bikers are about! Lot of the main roads in the High Peak are 50 limit, but still great scenery, with twists and turns and some steep hills. Just don't go during school holidays, as the roads are full of tourists and their caravans. Must add I have nothing against caravans, but they do get in the way of a good run out.
  4. The new model is now being made for new orders. See my post "Am I a lucky boy".
  5. Will wait until the car is here, then have a think about it. Dealer happy to obtain and fit any time. Will have to see if they will fit a personal import one, or will have a word with my mate who has a high end body shop. Hope it won't screw my bodywork/paint warranty, if I don't use the dealer to do it.
  6. Waiting for my new XV to be delivered (May), and living near Mansfield and M1/A38, so have the choice of Derbyshire or Sheffield - or both!
  7. Need to interrogate the fitter, and ensure he has the paperwork to identify the right screen. Check that all moulded in cables are present and any connectors on the screen edge are also present. Worst case is to have basic screen fitted, under protest, so at least you have a useable car, then badger screen firm/insurance company until you get the right one.
  8. Oh well, order placed now, so job done. Have also been informed I will have to have the 2015 model, so well pleased with that.
  9. Having ordered a new XV, for delivery in May, I was a bit annoyed to read about a new XV coming out this year. This morning, I got a phone call from the dealer, and seems Subaru are making no more of the 2014 model, and are now making the 2015 model, which I will have to have! Will cost me an extra £900, but does now include 7 inch sat nav, DAB radio, sunroof and keyless entry. I'm not complaining!
  10. Make sure it is the right screen for your car. Some recent posts on the Kia forum, where the windscreen companies are fitting standard screens, that do not have the inbuilt sensors required on higher spec cars. This has even happened at a dealer, where they got the windscreen firm in to fit it. Don't let them near your car, until you have checked they have the right screen.
  11. Snapped this off the web. Seems to be popular in the US, but dealer over here said they could get me one, and fit it. Not on Subaru XV brochure accessory list.
  12. Has anyone thought about, or even had the larger roof spoiler fitted to their XV? Do you think it enhances the look, or does it look a bit odd? Can't make up my mind.

    Car Names

Used to have a Lada Niva called Ada - the L had fallen off the name badge (amongst many other things). Current car is called Arsene, because it's a Kia Venga (I'm not an Arsenal fan, by the way - I think they are all called that!). The XV has already been called Vixen - by a 6 year old, so I will let that stand!
  14. Yes, I am not sure on the law on this. I ordered the car, and asked about a spare, expecting it to fit in the space where the plastic storage tray is, and that was when I was told it was only available with the factory modified boot. Ends up with the floor slightly higher, but flat all over, and with a bolt to hold wheel secure.
  15. I am getting a new XV, and did a trawl for insurance, and the cheapest quote (from my current insurer) was £175. The Kia Venga they insure at the moment is £220! Well pleased.
  16. VX has to be Venetian Red - well, mine will be!
  17. I have just ordered a new XV, and opted for the spare wheel kit (factory mod to floor) so car will not be here till May. Usefully, the dealer has paid half the cost (part of the deal package I negotiated), so happy with that. Had to buy a wheel and jack, etc for the Kia, and that cost best part of £200, but did not need to modify the boot floor. Does anyone know the law relating to spare wheels being firmly fixed in car (such as bolted to the floor), so it does not fly around in an accident? I was going to get a spare from a scrapper, but told nowhere in boot to mount it.
  18. If the light cannot be switched off, or disconnected safely (remember to reconnect when original tyres put back on), you might have to resort to the time honoured method, and put a small piece of dark tape over the light, to hide it. If light bright, you might need more than one layer. Does not look very nice, but does the trick.
  19. Hi Folks, just ordered a XV petrol SE Premium Lineartronic, in Venetian Red. Having the boot floor modification and spare wheel, so expect delivery in mid May. Can't wait! Swapping a Kia Venga 3 petrol auto.
