  1. Ouch - £388 with postage, then have to get it painted and fitted. Will leave it for now, I think, and spend the money on a noisy exhaust! :o
  2. Hyundai it is, and will help to keep my mileage down, to keep within the PCP mileage limit of my XV!
  3. It will be the petrol CVT, which has a 1200Kg limit (less for 80% calculation), so it will only be a small caravan. Looks like it is the g/f who will be getting a towbar fitted, as her wagon is much heavier and bigger
  4. Does anyone tow a caravan with their XV? What does it tow like? Thinking of rejoining the mobile roadblock brigade, and must decide on using the XV (when it arrives) or the girlfriend's Hyundai.
  5. Got a call from dealer today - it's on its way, and should be here in two to three weeks. Also told that it would have electric adjust on the driver's seat - whoopee!
  6. Give Citizen's Advice a call, and get the full SP from them. Goods should be fit for purpose for up to 6 years from purchase, if fault is a manufacturing fault or similar. This can include the failure of a minor component, which renders the TV unusable. The manufacturer's warranty is only an added extra to your consumer rights.
  7. Passed test in Jan 1969, and started buying cars in the following order: 1960 Ford Consul; 1960 Ford Popular; 1962 Austin Cambridge; 1967 Singer Vogue (Hunter shape); 1972 Morris Marina TC; 1975 Wolseley 2200 wedge; 1980 Talbot Solara (new); 1984 Mazda 626; 1990 Nissan Bluebird Turbo (pre-reg); 1992 Peugeot 309GTi (pre-reg Japanese spec); 1995 Hyundai S Coupe Turbo (pre-reg); 1998 Toyota Rav4 (pre-reg); 2000 Toyota Avensis (new); 2002 Mitsubishi Spacestar (ex-demo); 2004 SUBARU Forester all weather (pre-reg); 2007 Citroen C4 twin clutch rubbish (new); 2012 Kia Venga petrol auto (new); 2015 SUBARU XV (on its way). Doubled up with used cars: 1972 Skoda S110R; Triumph Herald (2); Landrover S3; Lada Niva (2), at odd times over the years.
  8. 18 week old Labrador puppy stole half my cheese scone after I came back from early shopping this morning. Same puppy stole a cheese and pickle sandwich off the work top at lunchtime (she is growing fast - probably all that bread). This afternoon she surprised us by climbing up the stairs, as she has had to be carried up to now - so all doors upstairs now shut. No doubt she will soon learn to open the doors, and crap on my bed!
  9. If you are involving Trading Standards and are after a full refund, do not do anything to the car. If it slips out you have tried to do any repairs yourself (or other repairer), you will be deemed to have accepted the car and its faults. If it is as bad as your describe, and all these faults were not obviously visible when you examined it, you should be OK for money back, but may have to go through small claims court, if they don't cough up. TS might investigate any false statements, but don't usually get you your money back.
  10. Seems like an inside job, as the "new" alarm system had not been fully tested, so was switched off. Very convenient for a long weekend. Also, sounds like most of the stuff there was trader's stock, from the local jewellers, and very few boxes rented to ordinary punters.
  11. The Yanks have some alternative colours. They have the khaki, which just looks like magnolia to me, but they also have the bright orange. Would I be brave enough for that????
  12. Well, at least JB will have a dark visor in her helmet, so we won't be turned to stone by her glare.
  13. Loose Women do Top Gear! Which one will be the Stig? Will they also do light aircraft testing, so Carol Vordeman can stick her !Removed! in the air, climbing into the cockpit? Well, cockpit got through!
  14. The brochure I was given (printed 2014) for the old one, listed Satin White, Ice Silver Metallic, Venetian Red Pearl, Quartz Blue Pearl and Dark Grey Metallic (which looks almost black in the brochure).
  15. I have my doubts about all this sacking business. The BBC wants to cancel Top Gear, but can't just say "enough", so need a reason. Clarkson and crew set up the fisticuffs, and Clarkson is sacked. Top Gear is cancelled - job done. Clarkson, however, is not actually sacked from the BBC, as he will be chairing Have I Got News For You in a couple of weeks. When I was working, if I got the sack, I would not reappear a few weeks later in another section of the same employer.
  16. What do you need it for? Might be worth letting local Subaru dealers know what your want, in case they might get in a beaten up trade in, which might suit you better. Saves all the hassle of importing, and you get to see the car before committing yourself.
  17. No probs. Gone for Venetian Red, as I can't be doing with silver or grey cars, and have a blue car already!
  18. Not sure of cost, but they seem able to repair almost any dent, without the need for paint, and pretty quickly too, so should not cost too much. I always park at the far end of supermarket car parks these days, after one car was hit by a high speed trolley, and a door dented. Well less than £100 to sort out, plus a small touch up of a scratch. Amazing what they can do with a few tools!
  19. As i said in an earlier post, some of the changes are anything but hidden, and at a cost of £900+ price increase. Just glad I did not go for the one in stock, as I would have been annoyed to have missed out on the extra goodies.
  20. Light My Fire - The Doors (extended version). Not to be confused with that boy band twaddle with Lulu (Relight My Fire??).
  21. Usually find that going to a dealer, and asking who sorts out dents and scratches on their trade ins, will direct you to a decent small repairer.
  22. Make a good drifting track - provided you did not fall off the edge!
  23. A bit of a downside, but depends how much stuff goes in the boot - with me it will probably be just the dog! If I do need to put any luggage in, the flexible load cover should cope with the missing height - which is more than the same height rigid cover in the Kia does. Failing that, it's the girlfriend's Hyundai i40 estate!
  24. Money already down (£500 deposit), and dealer says I can back out if I don't like it, as it is not what I ordered. Personally not bothered, as it won't be that different to current model. Might be different if they presented me with a Sportage lookalike!
  25. I would love one, but as I cannot get out of a Mazda MX5, I would have no chance with that. Probably would not be able to get in it, in the first place! Getting old sucks!
