Hi and welcome :D I always found that a lumpy tick over is a subaru's way of saying service me you normaly find that when its ready the revs drop to about 400 and its lumpy give it a service and should be sweet again

Buy a standard its better as you know what you are getting and you can customise it yourself. Wheel bearings, rattling or knocking from the engine Lower miles the better full service history is worth its waiting gold Timing belt pullies are done Dont be affraid to travel its always worth it for a good one!

i had the same trouble with my 99 forester when pulling off and also in second then was ok? never fixed it as i sold it but I put it down to clutch judder?

Tapping noice is a better noice than knocking lol Drop the oil and see how you go. If you treat a subaru engine with repect, love and maintenance it deserves then it should run sweet for 200k

Is it a tapping or a knocking as this is different? Like they have said before its hard to tell without hearing it. I would start with an engine flush and the replace with a high grade oil see what happens. A knocking could be a problem as its could be the bottom end but do the oil first then we will see? How many miles has it done ?

Hi Scoobylouie, Welcome to the club. Is the tapping come from the car or the engine area? Has is been standing for a while ? Has it had a recent oil change? Sometimes with them being a Flat Four the run dry of oil.

Hi All Just joined last last hope you are all well? Finally gopt a acooby after all these years of waiting lol. Got a nice 54 plate bloeye WRX I have to say I love it. My Mrs went mental as I brought It when she was away mmmm still not speakng to me but I still have the car :o) Scooby Blue 67k Full service history Cambelt changed all completly standard other than a STI scoop and spoiler.
