  1. https://youtu.be/Uj9lzb3dcCM thats the video I used - OK its a double DIN but same principal. I didn't bother completely unscrewing the gearstick btw as it wasnt necessary. Ebay bits needed: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/250413926808?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252218630012?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT and the final result...
  2. @Piggysniffer - I fitted a Sony MEX-N5100BT head unit to replace the stock single DIN one. It was an easy swap, just followed a handy youtube video - just a few screws to remove and use the existing bracket. Had to buy wiring loom adaptop from ebay at £3.50 and also ISO to DIN adaptor for the radio aerial cable at £1.60.
  3. Hi All, Had my hawkeye wagon for about a month now, and managed to cover 1500 miles thanks to some work trips. Getting 35mpg on the long trips at about 80mph, so all good! But there's a bad knocking noise when I make sharp left turns at moderate to high speeds, and I can feel something near my left butt cheek lol. Could this be a front diff issue? maybe the diff side gear? There is no bad noises making sharp right turns at any speed, so only left! Anyone experienced similar? How easy/awful would it be to find these parts? Would appreciate any thoughts from you guys!
  4. thanks - just waiting on head unit arriving in the post then I'll give it a go. One of the remote keys with the car is dud - spoke to a guy here who said the best place to go for a new one is direct to Subaru - guessing that won't be cheap though...
  5. Hi everyone, After a few months looking I've bought myself an Impreza wagon. 55 plate hawkeye with 160bhp NA engine - couldn't quite justify the extra costs for a WRX and honestly think the 160bhp engine is quite good fun anyway. I came from a VAG 1.9 TDi with 105bhp, so this feels much brisker. Hopefully it will prove reliable, I managed 36mpg on the 'delivery trip' from Suffolk up to Glasgow which isn't too awful. Bought a new Sony Head unit which I will install soon - anyone got any advice about best place to run the bluetooth mic cable? Wee photo below...maybe belonged to a previous member?
  6. Hi all - hoping to get myself an Impreza wagon shortly, will likely be a hawkeye wagon NA 2.0 - I know the turbos are much more fun! - but just a couple questions for you experts... Parcel shelf cover - it's missing! does the same part from the bug eye and blob eye fit the hawkeye wagon? These seem to fetch as much as £50 on ebay...bit of a bummer that it's missing. I'm looking at this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2006-BLACK-SUBARU-IMPREZA-R-SPORT-2-0-PETROL-MANUAL-4X4-2-KEYS-XENONS-FULL-HIST-/272274217861?hash=item3f64cedb85:g:OwAAAOSwGIRXYEbK The price looks really good? So I'm thinking it must have some possible issues - maybe clutch needing doing? It all checks out with HPI etc, 1 owner since new. Headunit - the factory fit one looks crap, so would want to fit an aftermarket single DIN one with bluetooth, USB etc. Think I read it's not standard size? So do you guys know the best fascia adaptor kit to go for? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CT24SU06-Subaru-Impreza-2002-2007-Car-Stereo-Single-Double-Din-Fascia-Panel-/261975581880?hash=item3cfef624b8:g:~zQAAOSwgQ9VrkMO maybe something like that? Thanks very much for any advice!
  7. Hi All, I've always wanted an impreza wagon so thinking to bite the bullet! Found a 2002 bugeye wagon 2.0gx with 75k on the clock, 2 owners from new - recently had new clutch and exhaust, the guy wants £1400 which I think seems reasonable? Just wondering anything special I should look out for before buying? common rust issues? suspension creaks? I'm guessing I'll be lucky to get about 28mpg from it? and will need to change the oil every 6k or so? There's no evidence of cam belt ever been changed so thats 1st on the list of jobs - local garage quoted £150 for this job... It's probably now or never for me as the bugeye wagons are getting on abit now... Thanks for any advice/info!
