  1. Got a 64 plate cvt diesel and it starts to get noisey at 95, by noisey I mean you can hear it working in the background with the radio volume level set to 13 and holding a standard volume conversation (read as it's quiet.) Drove form London to Inverness on half a tank at 70 stopping every couple of hours to kick the dog out for a ****.
  2. So I sold my blob WRX and bought a oil burning 64 plate Outback and I love it. Looking to take it off road more than I do now as my son loves driving it down the muddy lanes round where he lives. Naturally I want to protect my car as much as possible so am looking for advice as to where I can purchase bigger tyres, and which ones, suspension mods, that I don't need to import from the states and whether anyone else has done these forms of modifications to their cars. Hopefully here is a pic of my car and the sort of lanes I go down atm Cheers for any help

  4. Evening peeps!!!! so today started ****, woke up late, rushed around like a bull in a china shop getting ready for work, grabbed my keys and jumped in the car. switched her on, waited for the pump to finish priming, and started her up. noticed the oil light was flickering away so instantly turned her off, waited for a couple of minutes then tried her again, same way i did the first time, ingnition on, let the pump prime, engage started. she sprung into life just as before came up on the cold start, oil light still glowing dimly, opened the door to see if i could hear any knocking but nothing, decided i'd leave her where she was and take the van to work instead as i didnt want to risk damaging her internals anymore than possibly whats happened already. tried to search for a wiring diagram for the oil pressure wiring but all i can find on wiring seems to be audio wiring, seems alot of people want to change the speakers........... could anyone help me either by putting up a link or picture of a pin out diagram that shows the loaction of connects and the like. she is a 2003 wrx blob wagon/hatch cheers for any help uncle tashie
  5. I had to drive like a complete granddad to achieve 300 miles, change up at 2k and stay off boost
  6. Mishimoto are top people, it all came this morning. Gotta use the workshop once I've finished work so I can replace it
  7. I found my leak yesterday, its coming from the radiator underneath a mounting point for anther cooling hose so ive just ordered a mishimoto x-line radiator and some radiator stays cant wait for them to arrive. should really do a thread on my car..........need to get some photos of it first.......
  8. sounds like its time for some upgrades, new radiator, some coolant hoses and a new thermostat. thanks for the advise people
  9. so ive had my wrx, Suzanna, for about 2 weeks now and it over heats. it's not like a water pump issue where it is fine stuck in traffic but over heats when its on a drive, I don't think its a head gasket issue cause it doesn't over heat when its running sitting still, when I go for an enjoyable run through some back lanes she sits at half way up the temp gauge but if I get stuck behind a slower moving car she begins to warm up, but once she it back up to cruising speed she stops going up and becomes stationary, both fans work but the coolant seems to disappear. if I keep her high in the rev rang in a low gear so I can hear her roar through built up areas, at legal speeds, the temp will stay in the middle but steam will start appearing out the bonnet and I can smell the coolant to the extent that the other half moans. Suzanna had her cambelt changed the day before I picked her u but I don't know if her water pump was done at the same time. the coolant look like its coming from the top of the rad by the cap, i've changed the cap for and sti 1.3bar cap which has stopped the coolant coming from there but it still looks like its coming from that area, are the standard radiators prone to leaking around the radiator caps or where the ali core is folded onto the plastic? thanks for taking the time to read this and any help or advice will be greatly appreciated uncle tashie
