  1. no probs...... i'll be no stranger lol. that would be brilliant, cheers for that. i have had an offer, its a bit low but if i don't get any interest i may need to take it. looking to have the car gone in the next couple of weeks
  2. I've decided to go for more of a comfy cruiser so went back to VAG and got myself a VW Scirocco 2.0 TSI. its nice having some creature comforts again, loved every minute of owning the scooby and its rawness, but thats been just short of 2 years of ownership and fancied a change, something a little more grown up you might say. really will be sad to see her move on but i am starting to rack the miles up a little so need something a bit lighter on my wallet plus don't want to ruin the scooby by chucking the mileage on it. do see myself owning another one a few years down the line, maybe a nice classic. going to update my owners thread so everything is up to date and any potential interested parties on her can view her 2 years of ownership.

Open to negotiations, must go soon as new car has arrived. Make me an offer..... the worst i can say is no. Car is available to view either at my home address or at John Hastie & Son Garage in Prestonpans, East Lothian. The garage is a 5min walk from the train station so good transport links if not travelling by car. Thanks for looking
  4. Last Tuesday was mapping day....... Or so I thought? Turns out that the car has been fettled with before.... Expected requested boost was about 0.9bar....... The ecu was requesting 1.27bar! 2hrs later.... a wee bit trimming on the fuel top end and a tiny bit more boost extracted from the baby td04, then 3 power runs using the laptop on the road resulted in approximate figures of 279bhp with 316lbsft of torque. Good figures on a car still restricted with the standard catted uppipe. With the fuelling being pulled in a bit but still running a touch rich I should also see a slight improvement in mpg lol..... Who cares about that :D especially when i've had pops n bangs enabled lol. So the car gain very little in terms of power top end, but it feels a bit punchier mid range. Because the the mapping had basically already been done the majority of the mappers work was already complete, he just tweeked a little to get the absolute max, enabled a few things for me and done a few power runs, i was only charged a nominal fee :) i was advised to sort out my heatsoak issues. a difference of 20whp was present when the car had been sitting for 5 mins running compared to when i'd been running off boost at 50mph for 5mins. heat wrapping the downpipe and getting a thermal jacket made up for the turbo will help me lower my intercooler temps and also help get the exhaust gases moving quicker. so smiles all round..... and i now know why my car was punching above its weight when i was thinking i only had around 250-260bhp. Just need to get the car on a proper rolling road now...... accompanied with a video
  5. Well thats the mapping session sorted out now B) Decided to go open source rather than use ECUtek as i'm finished with power mods after this and going to concentrate on the suspension setup. Mapping will be carried out at GI Motorsport by Chris Forbes. Roll on the 13th of May :D
  6. paintwork showing no fade and there is no evidence of they hideous stickers ever existing :) in other news, yesterday I took delivery of this: Then I went straight out and did this Before: After: The rain arrived so never got the fuel pump done :(
  7. update: items on order.......... cosworth panel filter SWRD 255L/H fuel pump remap is on the cards once fitted :D oh and i've got a replacement boost gauge, plumbed it all in and i'm having issues again :n: either i need to find a different point to tap into or my car is running serious boooooooost so have disconnected the vac line for the gauge until i find a solution. it does still light up all blue and shiney though.... just sits at 0bar lol
  8. The long awaited arrival of pics..... Strut brace: New Pioneer headunit and turbo timer: Unfortunately no pics of the boost gauge as it lasted a day and the damper spring has broken inside, causing the needle to bounce and the gauge to make a horrible rattling noise. A replacement is on its way
  9. Well it's been a while now so I'll do a quick run through of the last 3 months Car went in for a service and a full set of Avon ZZ3 tyres on Christmas Eve Opened up my presents on Christmas Day to find a boost gauge, a pillar gauge pod, HKS turbo timer with patch lead, STI pink strut brace and a Pioneer DEH 4500BT headunit with memory stick full of music. Fitted the strut brace on Boxing Day as it only took half an hour and just finished fitting the turbo timer, boost gauge and new headunit today. Pics to follow tomorrow. The car is running really well just now..... Just enjoying using it at the moment and happy with the current power level. Would love to upgrade the ARBs, fit the anti lift kit and maybe look at some lowering springs but nothing major will be happening in the next 6months
  10. It would indeed be a good spot for the aformentioned activity...... better so under the close of dark. I had thought about removing the "If in doubt, flat out" sticker from the tailgate and fitting a new etched silver replacement on the rear window. but i was also thinking of removing the SUBARU lettering along with the nurburgring sticker so it would leave the tailgate quite bare looking. decisions decisions
  11. Not much of an update Thought i'd take the opportunity to take a wee pic in the sun when i'd stopped to take a call on my phone on the way home from work
  12. lovely blue blob you have there and some healthy power to go with the fats road geo setup only thing i don't like is the wheels it currently sits on have you read up about the brake stopper mod?? suppose to make the car feel much better under braking
  13. i'm getting annoyed already with the waiting lol i got a radio controlled bugatti veyron last year off her mum & dad that i chase the dog about the house with ;) i did ask why i was not aloud to buy anything and she said its because they are all buying me things that are on my wish list for the car so i am not to buy anything. i told her she could buy a cosworth panel filter, wrap it up and it can be my present from my wee girl lol
  14. update.......... fresh MOT and 6 months tax added :) have been told by the other half that i am banned from buying anything for the car between now and christmas for reasons unknown. me thinks its got something to do with what her, her sister and her mum & dad are getting me for christmas. she won't even let me buy a prodrive tax disc holder or blue anodized wheel nuts lol. next time i give the car a wash i'm going to finally get my prodrive sunstrip fitted that i bought 2 months ago and is gathering dust in the cupboard, then i can't see there being any updates until christmas
  15. Well i've still not had my car mot'd as i forgot that the father in law was on holiday from work last week. So its going in tomorrow afternoon........ fingers crossed........ then its 6 months tax being bought on friday....... then its time to save for a much needed matched set of 4 tyres
  16. Here's a question for all you scooby owners on here. If you were handed £1500 to spend on your cars, how would you spend it?? I would have the following: 18x8.0 Rota grid drifts in gold D2 racing height and damping adjustable coilovers Eibach camber bolts Cosworth panel filter Prodrive ECU map tweak Geometry setup
  17. I wouldn't ignore everything..... There might still be an issue with the pads. Give everything the once over when you take a look :)
  18. This is true..... Might be as simple as removing the pads, cleaning all the shims up and cleaning the calipers up where the pads run, apply some copper slip to the BACK of the pads, then build everything back up. A lot cheaper than getting new pads :)
  19. my mot runs out 9 days before my tax does, but will hopefully have a fresh MOT tomorrow :) and the car will be getting 6 months tax so that the tax and MOT don't land in the same month again lol. its hard trying to juggle the MOT, TAX and insurance for 2 cars so that they don't clash in the same month :(
  20. Wish I could get away with a few other stealth buys but next month is a sore one for me...... Road tax is due on the scooby and insurance is due on the other halfs corsa :( I was hoping for a full set of Avon ZZ3 tyres so I can ditch the horrible hedgefinders that are fitted just now lol
  21. Well after a couple of days use I can report back that these disc/pad combo is much better than what was fitted. No more squeal off the brakes when they heat up now as everything was meticulously cleaned before refitting. On another note..... Look what arrived today as a secret purchase (the other half thinks I got them for nowt lol) I dunno how I manage it but this was another cheap as chips eBay bargain :)
  22. Thanks man :) New discs n pads are now on. The rears were a nightmare as the pads were seized in the caliper and needed some gentle persuasion with the hammer to get them off. All the shims, retainers and pins were dumped in the ultrasonic bath and cleaned up before refitting. Also gave the calipers a clean up with some brake cleaner and a rag. Here proof that they are now on: Fronts Rears Should've took some better pictures with the wheels off but I'd left my phone in the car when it was up on the 2 poster. Just need to bed them in now, only done about 3 miles so will give a review on them in due course. Next up.... MOT time on Friday
  23. make sure you have a budget available for rebuilding the engine if the engine hasn't already been rebuilt. seems the 2.5s are renowned for piston ring failure..... you only have to do a google search to see that it doesn't even have to be an engine with high miles or be running silly horsepower for it do happen. head gaskets also seem to be a common issue too. just food for thought. its the one thing thats put me off the 2.5 for the time being
  24. Jim would've liked my car...... It's only 8yrs old lol. On another note..... look what the postman delivered today :)
  25. was hoping i could've stretched to getting the cosworth panel filter this month but 37odd quid that would've easily bought me the cossie filter has went to fund the secret s*x ring run at the bbc as my quarterly tv licence direct debit has came off
