  1. Hi, My turbo finally arrived, had some slight issues, but all sorted now. Started putting bits together to fit it and found my new oil feed pipe (12mm banjo) is too big, the turbo takes a 10mm. Went to my car to check and the banjo there is a 12mm. Has anyone had this problem? Does anyone have any advice on how to fix it? Thanks
  2. Little update, the broken part was in the box, the seller claims it must have fractured in transit, I want to believe him as I dont get a dodgy vibe from our conversations. I am going to get it welded tomorrow.
  3. Ok, thanks, will get on it
  4. Does anyone happen to have a TD05 Exhaust housing? The turbo I have just bought has a corner snapped off where it bolts to the uppipe, the previous owner didnt tell me when i bought it, my car is a daily driver and off the road until this is fixed. The turbo is completely fine apart from that. It will take too long to send it back to him, get a refund and find another.
  5. Haha yeah, when i say bodge I dont mean sawdust and spit like a lot of people mean, my bodge jobs are well done but dont neccesarily look good or pretty. This split, I was thinking of looking for a plastic glue, then finding a sleeve to fit inside the pipe to give it is shape, then when the glue has set pulling the sleeve out, hopefully that will last until next payday. I am currently looking at rerouting the breather pipes. I will keep everything black though as im not as flashy as savage
  6. Damn that looks good savage. Ive also noticed yours james, have a little look every now and then to see what you have done recently, you need a build thread so its easier to find Cheers guys, appreciate the help. Consider me inspired, think i may have to temporarily bodge fix this one until i get over buying all these parts for the mapping, talk about unlucky that it decides to bust just when ive spent all my cash on turbo parts and bob
  7. Hi i am after one of these please, pretty urgently. Thanks
  8. An update just incase anyone else has the same question. I bought another ecu exactly the same, it was a straight swap and turned over straight away, running with no problems.
  9. I think this has the brownish tip you are on about, i did mention to andy at esl that i was fitting yellows and the 3 bar sensor and had to drive to bob. Wether he adds them to the map or not i dont know so will take your advice. Thank you very much, you have been very helpful over the last year, i appreciate it 👍
  10. The advert says they are phase 1 injectors, so i believe they are a straight fit. The up pipe is original, and i remember the drama trying to get the original down pipe off so i am currently trying to source the correct studs and bolts etc. I have bought all oe gaskets. I am looking at buying new oil return pipe and gasket and oil feed with banjo bolt and washers as seen several posts that said they struggled with them. The "flexi elbow" intake pipe, thats not the one that the oe recirc valve attaches to is it? Because im currently looking for one of those as it has split where the recirc valve attaches Ah ok, I didnt know about the map sensor, Bob said to fit everything and drive off boost, the oe ECU would learn slightly to be safe for one journey to swindon as he doesnt have fitting facilities. But its not the oe ecu is it, im not sure if the ESL learns to adjust things?
  11. Hi all, First up I have tried everything I can to source info, multiple google searches and used the search function on here and SN and called out to mates. I have a 1993 wrx wagon that now has a pile of bits sitting in the corner of my room. The most recent addition being a TD05 turbo, low miles, no play and working actuator. This friday some mates and myself will be fitting 3 bar map sensor, upgraded coil packs, pfr7 spark plugs, ultrasonically cleaned and flow tested yellow injectors, walbro fuel pump, decat up pipe, possibly removing the internals of my sports cat, the TD05 and the crown jewel, a new ESL board which will hopefully be here by then with a TD05 map on it. In preparation I have purchased new gaskets for the up pipe, the down pipe, new injector seals. The heat shrink rubber coating for the wiring, Tesa tape. Can anyone think of anything else I may have missed, or is there any parts that may not cope with being taken off and need replacing when removing the TD04. Whilst writing this I have just thought of the turbo bolts. The car is booked in with Bob Rawle on the 5th, and I cannot wait!
  12. Buy some Virusol off ebay, Its amazing stuff. I put some neat in a spray bottle, use some rubber gloves and dont get it in your face or breathe it in. Spray it over a panel then use a sponge and some clean water (not too much, you will figure it out), once the whole car is washed then dry it and polish it, then wax it. It will gleam like never before I seriously cant rate this stuff enough and it is so cheap! It is a citrus based chemical degreaser, it will eat through all the dirt and grime and baked on crap, and egg, to take you back to paint. then the polish will make the paint shine and wax protect it. 100% carnauba wax is what i use and love it. There are other waxes but this is what i stuck with.
  13. I agree with what nearly all of you have said in some form or other. Personally I would rather go with someone who communicates like a business should, Duncan might be a good guy and might be better than his internet forum history suggests, but he is awful at communicating with his customer base. That put me off him straight away. Its a lot of money to give to someone who wont even speak to you via email which he can answer from his living room chair with a stella in his hand and feet in a foot spa. I have researched about 6 mappers, and the guy I have booked my car in with is Bob Rawle, I have to go to Swindon to get it done but I dont mind that for good customer service and promising internet history. I have been chatting to him for about a week getting all sorts of advice and help without even having to agree to book it in. Once we had agreed upon what work I would be better off completing before getting it mapped I settled on Sept 5th. I am currently sat beside a second hand slanty intercooler trying to straighten fins, this will replace my dead one. I have newage coil packs that will be fitted at the end of the month, yellow 440's that are being ultrasonicly cleaned and fitted at the same time as everything else, the end of the month, 3 bar map sensor that is being posted out atm, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Decat downpipe I will order on payday, I have found a td05 that I am considering getting, my argument is that I can get andy to put a td05 map on the esl which will make the journey down to Swindon a bit easier. Other wise its going to suck! Bob said that I had to have everything fitted a few days before so I know that everything works before coming down as he doesnt have a garage to fit anything or time for me to fix anything that doesnt work once fitted and found to be faulty. He said the original ecu wont like the changes but once driven for a while off boost will slightly adapt and be driveable if i stay off boost. i am taking the ECU out of my car later today and sticking in a manky replacement (same version), I will send mine off to get the board fitted tomorrow. So will make my mind up tonight about the td05, (although i think it already is )
  14. These guys have been recommended by others this evening on The forum that shall not be named I was checking out Bob Rawle and liking what i was reading when someone posted this Perfect! I have just sent him an email and shall see what he says. Here's hoping he's not booked until next year sometime
  15. I seem to keep hearing that. Shame as he is not too far away.
  16. Hi, This has quite possibly been done to death over a lot of forums but i'm coming up fruitless in my searches, they are all old posts or the mappers websites are not optimised properly to come up on google searches in the first few pages. I now have an ESL board and a few bits and pieces (v1 yellow injectors, Decat up pipe, Walbro 255lph fuel pump) ready for a remap and will have the cash at the end of the month to get it done, I am stuck with the question, who do i get to do it? I live near Shrewsbury and dont really want to travel too far incase i need adjustments made afterwards. Duncan at race dynamix has been spoken about and I have found his website. I have heard good and bad things, my own dealings with him so far have been multiple emails ignored and several days delay in replying to texts, the one time i phoned he hung up on me, his website does say to text though. Andy Carr got recommended to me recently, but again im finding good and bad things in forum posts, most are generally years old though. Slo-boy racing in london come up in searches There is obviously Andy Forrest but he is way up in Scotland. Can anyone please drop some names and experiences. Thanks. Oh, also i have a stainless steel downpipe with a sports cat on already, it has a sensor in it after the cat, i guess to measure temps but it is not connected to anything as the wire is too short and and the mechanic who fitted it says it doesnt matter. The original down pipe had a sensor in before the cat. Do I need to get the sensor ready to be attached for the map, will it make a difference? Thanks.
  17. Yeah, was thinking i would have to do that, I was hoping I could find someone who had gone through this so I could get a definite answer, because I dont want to waste £50 buying another ecu to find it doesnt work, then having it sit on a shelf until It finally sells on ebay months later for less than i paid for it. There are 4 or 5 of my ecu on ebay at the moment and have been for ages.
  18. Hi, I have just ordered an ESL board and paid for fitting. However in the email I got sent it says I have to send my Ecu off for the board to be fitted to it. Now I know I should have asked first, hindsight is wonderful like that lol, but if I buy another 1c Ecu off ebay, will it need to be linked to my car? Will it work as its an older 1993 version or will it not work. If I send the Ecu i buy off ebay to Andy at ESL and get it back with the daughterboard on I will be in the same situation, with an ecu not linked to my car. Im going to phone ESL tomorrow, but thought i might ask here first for some info. Cheers guys Martin
  19. I have been really busy with everyday crap for the last few months so havent had the mindset to post anything. I have been messing around with the car still, mainly wasting time trying to make my own mdf speaker rings. But I have also given the engine bay a good old degrease using a product called virusol. Its citrus based but boy does it clean!! Its mental! I have fitted my sub woofer, something I didnt want to do but glad I did. I will remove it when I have completed some more expensive work on the car and can upgrade the system Im fitting. I have given her an oil flush and some awesome Millers oil and a new filter. This has made a big difference in engine sound, its quieter and has a different tone. But the big news which I am really happy about is my ESL board which I have just ordered! I have just ordered it direct from ESL, it was more than i thought, as i read but didnt mentally register the 'VAT not included' sign. I decided to buy it as I have only seen two second hand v.2.0 chips for my car for sale in the last year, and ESL are always out of stock when i check, I have messaged Duncan at race dynamics asking if he keeps them in stock but he hasnt replied. He offers the board fitted, remap and rolling road for £650 but I cant guarantee him having one in stock when im ready. So, its a bit more expensive for me this way, but at least i will have a brand new board ready to go in when I have the cash for the mappng and rolling road, hopefully in a month or two. Pics to follow soon
  20. I have just bought a tub of virusol, this stuff is amazing!! I will post photos when I am able.
  21. Still looking, v2 board, and i dont need the cable. I will be getting it mapped. Cheers
  22. Hi, I own a 1993 WRX Wagon that apart from the exhaust and brakes is standard. Its really good to drive at an everyday speed. I dont need to brake to go around corners at sensible speeds, there are no knocking sounds, the suspension is old, my mechanic reckons its either the oe setup or well over a decade old. The car has done 75000ish miles in total. I guess all the bushes etc are original items. The Wagon suspension is very soft, loads of body roll, and also understeers a lot, at speeds it shouldnt really. I have 16" speedlines with toyo proxe t1r tyres with loads of grip left. The roads I drive in shropshire are shockingly bad, pot holes and folds in the tarmac, dips that jar the suspension, I also go into Wales where the roads are much better but mountain B roads. I will probably never go to a track day. Im not sure what to do first. Replace all the bushes, ive heard people say that polyflex? bushes are best for bad roads, rather than the hard nylon bushes. I cant afford the really expensive coilovers and dont want a rock hard ride for obvious reasons, so coilovers are out. Im thinking koni yellows with a spring set, not sure what yet. Ive also heard pro's and cons for the whole arb upgrade. Im leaning against it at the moment. If my front is stepping out possibly too early, I dont want my back end to go aswell. I would rather get a possible problem sorted then further down the road try upgrades. Front and rear strut braces. Some people swear by them, others dont. Has anyone tried them on a standard suspension wagon? To give some more background info, A friend was in a Kia Seoul and cornered faster than me on nearly every single corner on a 9 mile stretch of road. I was just understeering every single one of them. In the correct gear as fast as possible with no understeer he made quite a gap between us. The Kia Seoul was bog standard but only a couple of years old. I have never needed to do anything like this before, So any advice or experience would be very welcome! Thanks
  23. Just for anyone else who may be wondering the same question I bought mtec brake discs for my old 1.8 celica, I drive fast but not track fast, as you never know whats on the other side of a welsh mountain corner and they warped within a few months, spent a bit extra on some plain, no dimples etc brembos and didnt look back. Stuck with them ever since.
  24. Cheers bud, Im loving modding this car. It is taking all my cash though Its a good job i'm single as i wouldn't even want to take a girl to maccies on a date, I would begrudge the price of a happy meal Yeah so am I, a friend tipped me off and said they were not liked by people, so i read a review and im glad I didnt get them. Im looking at japspeed, but would also like to read up a bit more on the harvey manifold and up pipe. I have heard that the ported manifold is basically something you can do at home yourself with your own if you have a bit of confidence. But i think that a lighter stainless manifold might be better acoustically? The decat up pipe i would have to buy. Yeah cheers, I am planning on buying the bits and having it all done in one go. I was suprised aswell! One of the things i had read was jdm imports have alloy wishbones. But i have also read that early subarus are a real mix and match bag. Especially imports.
