beans 1957 Posted November 16, 2014 Posted November 16, 2014 HI , I'm brand new to this forum and to subaru's so please bear with me. I just purchased a 2010 outback with the 2.0 litre diesel boxer engine. can anyone tell me if it has a timing belt or is it a chain,i've tried to look in the user guide but its either very confusing or i'm as thick as xxxx ......any help much appreciated . Pete
Gambit Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Hi Pete Welcome to S.O.C It will be a belt mate. But you can give Martin a ring at Sheffield Subaru Services does a lot of our work for people on here if you need it doing. Stants from your city drives down their he won't rip people off and does great work quick too.
beans 1957 Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Thanks for the reply,I had a feeling it was a belt , I'm waiting for the previous owner to forward some paperwork ,he had the service stamps in the book but the receipts were at his office, the last service was the 96,000 mile its now on 110,000 so i'm hoping its been done, if not, any idea of the price ? Cheers Pete
stants Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Around 350-400 quid from a specialist or double that from a dealer [emoji33] I'd say the 35 mile trip is well worth it to visit martin & dave down in sheff. It's just round the corner from the arena and medowhall, easy to get to. If you don't want to travel that for theres richard Henry in bradford but no idea of the prices and I went once and they didn't seem that interested
Gambit Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 I do a 251 mile round trip to see Martin and Dave so I'd agree worth it :D
beans 1957 Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 thanks guys ,I'll wait for the paperwork and if its not had one i'll give them a call at sheffield subaru services and get a quote.
Gambit Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 No problem let them know you're from here. If it hasn't been done. [emoji6]
