I currently have a 2006 BMW 330D but have owned plenty of RS & ST model Fords over the years so not shy of a bit of power. However my knowledge of Subaru is very very small. I have a budget of around 8.5k which would come from the sale of my 330D. What I would like is an Impreza WRX STI something built between 2003 and 2007 not particularly fussed about colour, I have found a couple that I like the look of but they are all to far away. What should I be looking for when buying? I think I would rather buy the 2.0 rather than the 2.5 to avoid horendous tax costs although that isnt essential. Jay762 Posted December 31, 2014 Share Posted December 31, 2014 Wotcha and welcome Nick - you should get a serious piece of kit for that money potentially a widetrack STI blobeye - but that may mean waiting for the right one to come along, the one thing I will say is be prepared to travel for the right car. Those cars both look tidy on the face of it Prodrive packs vary dependant on model but can involve a remap, back box, high flow filter, possibly a high flow fuel pump, uprated antiroll bars. Gambit Posted January 2, 2015 Share Posted January 2, 2015 If it's been well looked after we have a couple of members with milage over 200k still going strong. But like my car is showing 120k on the clock but I've had a rebuild done so it's only really about 60k now since I had it done. Really it's more important to have lot's of reliable service history if going private I find. I'd be careful though seen two members on here buy cars that's had engine rebuilds done by a part time diy car mechanic for the engines to let go 3 weeks later because they didn't know what they was doing.
