Salmon Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 I know it might seem a bit random but with normal driving how long could a wrx gearbox last with very little to no oil? If what my mechanic says is true I would guess its been 5000+ miles in the state its in. Feels much better now with the correct oil levels but I'm not sure how is would effect the longevity of the gearbox. It started to feel notchy changing gears so never forced it in and shifted slow, Are these gearboxs bullet proof or am I really lucky its still going still? Cheers
Salmon Posted May 24, 2015 Author Posted May 24, 2015 Not after a detailed response guys, just thought someone hear must have experience with this they would be willing to share..Thanks
Sandals Posted May 24, 2015 Posted May 24, 2015 I'm amazed it lasted 5000 miles with no oil!! Can't possibly comment on how long it will last but I would imagine running the gears with no lubrication will significantly increase wear on them... 1
