Hi all

I went to get my Impreza wagon wrx UK MY2002 remapped.

The chap read my ecu fine but when he did a test write it lost connection with the ecu. He re-tried the test write and it was fine. He did this a few times and it would randomly lose connection. Because of this he has advised me to get a spare ecu in case when he writes the file to my ecu it bricks it.

The questions I have are:

Is this a common problem?

If I take his advice will I need just the ecu or will I need the ecu and keys with chip for immobiliser.

Who's doing the map ?

Do you have the factory alarm or aftermarket one

Gareth at maptech in brigg.

Its a factory alarm setup with keypad

Is the alarm cutting power after a certain amount of time and thats why it crashes half way through the write process ?

Think you may need the keys to a new ecu as they are programmed together. Could be wrong though

Spoken to Gareth, He says its not the alarm as it was disarmed and the ignition was kept live.
