Hi folks, in northern Ireland we have an annoying lack of good garages selling superunleaded, optimax or v-power isn't available at all!! So was wondering are octane boosters any good or safe to use? What brand is best?

Yea that's the highest mate, few places do maxol e5 which I think might be higher but none near me

I think I watched 5th gear and use an octane booster made them loose power everytime.

I used one before it was for track day racing that was good felt good anyway :) 

Do you know which brand it was?

Think it was a nitro one just looking for it now :D 

think it was this one I remember it saying it wasn't street legal. Which made me want it more. :)

I'll just add though I did only use it the once when local station was having a refurb and I had no choice but to be using the 95 stuff :(

I've seen NF Octane Booster recommend on a few Subaru forums but have always used Miller Oils version. Can't comment on how well it works but my old 96 classic ran smoother with it than without, not tried it yet on the 14 STi.

So going by this if I ran the crap 95 ron petrol we get over here with 10% methanol I'll end up with 100ron fuel
