bugeye86 Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Hi I have a 2002 buyeye wrx with ppp, when brought car was low on oil so toped it up to max now less then 1000 miles its back to empty again ☹ is this normal?no patches under car
stants Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Doesn't sound normal, is there any blue smoke when running the car or any smell of burning oil when you lift the bonnet. Do you still have the plastic under tray on the car ? If so the oil will collect there and not drip down that quickly. I'd check sump plug on properly, oil filter had no holes and is seated correctly, Shine a torch down the left side of the engine between the airbox and cam covers, see if there's any puddles there, the gaskets weep but not enough to loose that much oik in such a short amount of time, also check the oil feed line to the turbo is ok and has no holes in. 1
bugeye86 Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 No smoke that I've noticed n wouldn't say any smell of oil either... Do have cover on car didn't think about that will get out there an have proper check round now.cheers for help appreciate it
bugeye86 Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 think I found problem back right hand corner of engine no idea what it is or how much I'm looking at ☹
stants Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Hundred quid roughly for a garage to do it, about 50-60 diy, to be honest it's worth paying somone as it's a pig. That's the half moon that accompanies the cam cover gasket, they get hot and brittle and eventually perish. At least it looks like something simple 1
bugeye86 Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Dont look the easiest thing to get to n never done anything mechanical so i think garage it is...cheers for help mate
stants Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 No worries mate, do you have an independent subaru specialist ? A main dealer would probably have your eyes out for this as it's simple enough, but access and the bits you have to remove are time consuming
bugeye86 Posted May 4, 2015 Author Posted May 4, 2015 Only had car month now, needs more doing than first fort.mostly silly lil bits tho
stants Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Ah boo, easiest way is to remove plugs & leads remove airbox, Battery & washer bottle and loosen engine mounts then jack the engine up to gain access, there are a few other bits to remove aswell but that's the bones of it Www.importcarparts.co.uk your best bet, if your struggling or can't find it on the site give them a call they should have it
Tidgy Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 By topping it up, how much are you actualy putting in? would be a big puddle on the floor if rocker was leaking as much as it sounds like it is 1 Litre per 1000, 1 Litre per 100 miles?
STIBUGEYES Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Why does that look like someone has put filler in a massive chunk ?
bugeye86 Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 Not sure how much topped it up to be honest didn't measure just pumped some out of works barrel, keeping eye on it now I know its leaking, hopefully be going in to be fixed next week
bugeye86 Posted May 8, 2015 Author Posted May 8, 2015 I know stibuyeyes same as what I fort to start with.couldn't see it so put phone down back of engine took few pics n that's what I saw, looked like right bodge
