marcothio Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 Hi, i had a bad experience with my XV, just bought it and after 1 month the clutch was gone. Didn't notice any slip when test driving. Fortunately, the dealer was very, very embarrassed and fixed in in 48h. Now, I am new to subaru's but clutches shouldn't die after 45K miles??? I just hope no further problems...
Scooby1972 Posted March 14, 2016 Posted March 14, 2016 You can kill a clutch very quickly if the previous owner had held it on hills on the clutch or just not been very sympathetic on gear changes always telling my sister put the handbrake on when on a hill but never listens her clutch went again last week 馃槸

I bought forester with clutch slipping and still drove nearly a year before changing it.
Dogconker Posted March 16, 2016 Posted March 16, 2016 Mine has done 48k and has had no problem with the clutch, Subarus are prone to a bit of clutch judder but you should be getting 100k+ out of a clutch these days. Dud it actually break or did it just start slipping, if it broke that's clearly a fault, worn out means that someone spent a lot of time riding the clutch, which is daft because it has hill start assist so there's no need to hold the clutch, you just sit on the foot brake then pull away.
