I did have concerns about its 0-60. What is the pull like on it? or is it just a steady acceleration?

Couldnt tell you the 0-60 it can get a hustle on if you put in sport mode or use the manual mode - Buuuuut its an N/A 2.0 so whilst there is acceleration its not a rocket ship, it is faster than the 2.0 N/A mazda 3 sport we had at one point but it cannot hold a candle to the 330bhp STI hatch - power to weight ratios may be worth comparing to the X5 though.

When you do test drive at some point put it in manual mode and hold in second or third dependant on speed or road options then floor it (obviously not screaming its head off). Or hold in third then drop to 2nd and floor it

Ok thanks, looking around it says 0-60 is 11.5 sec thats like Nissan Micra territory  so i'm not expecting it to pin you back in your seat, should be able to test drive mid next week hopefully i'll like it because i'm not paying £500 a year to tax a WRX.

Yeah i was a bit shocked, the manual is 9.6 so not a great deal slower, for me the hatchback is the best looking Subaru especially the WRX and STI versions (that maybe controversial) so happy on that front as long as it has a little bit of pull i'll be happy.

depends on what you would like to spend.

filter, de/sports cat, free flow pipe is low end but as it is N/A the returns are not going to be huge but with a map you will get the 2.0 lump running as it should not restricted to manufacturing / Euro regs.

You could look at a full lightening and blueprinting of the engine - lumpy cams, ported + flowed heads (possibly bigger valves dont know??) etc that will get you more but will start to hike the cost.

I have been contemplating the idea of a 2.5 lump replacement without the turbo setup.

power to weight ratio is a good low cost approach - remove or replace heavy items

Buuuut the chassis is setup up for comfort not speed so gains can be had by stiffening it up (shocks ARB etc), replacing standard discs + pads (possibly braided hoses) to improve the braking capability (they are not bad as standard and give better feel than my STI but do fade under enthusiastic driving)

I have just ordered the OBD and app so will have a crack at the 0-60 times as the standard auto box change program is not great - I checked with Subaru, there are no modification (PAK) files to change / improve it. So that 0-60 of 11.5 may be in standard auto mode. Ill do a run in Sport auto and also me manually operating the box

That would be great to see as I thought 11.5 seems a little slow for a Subaru I know its N/A but still...

Did you manage to do any tests?

OK completed some research :driving:and all pulls came out around 11.0 - 11.1 - 11.2 etc

Irrespective of mode the 0-60 relies a lot on 1st gear Sport mode doesn't give any more power just hangs onto the gears longer

So 11.0 - 11.5 is your lot

Ok so just came back from the test drive and I have to say sadly its not for me! For a start the dealer told me it was immaculate condition but when i got there it had dents, scratches, cracked fog light etc overall it wasn't in great condition anyway that aside the drive for me was just to boring for want of a better word, I put my foot down and it was a little pathetic and didn't feel like I was driving a Subaru, don't get me wrong the look and the shape is beautiful its just the drive isn't there for me, i've driven a Micra with more go in it and as for engine noise that was non existent as well whilst i wasn't expecting the burble of a WRX I was expecting a more than what i heard.

So overall i'm really disappointed as i wanted it to be so much more than it was, the search goes on.....

Do you need an auto? I have the 2litre rx manual and it's actually got some grunt, get it going and it'll take off pretty well. Granted it's not in league with wrx and sti but it holds up more than well enough against cooper s, bmw one series etc etc and in corners it takes down most, love it when a merc overtakes then slams on in corners I'm on them like a fly to !Removed! wondering why they bothered

No don't need an auto just it was down the road from me so thought id give it a whirl!

Think I have come to the conclusion that I can't have a N/A car need boost in my life. Its not the fastest but even my X5 makes me smile at times, I just didn't think the RX would be quite as disappointing as it was which is a shame because i love the shape and styling more than the traditional Scoobs.

I would love a 2.0D RC but just a bit pricey so may have to wait until they drop.

NA 2.0 (2000) standard exhaust apart from different mid pipe without resonator and backbox from another NA model.

That sounds very different to mine - clearly there is room for aural improvement!

The previous owner went to an exhaust shop to get it made, when she first got it, it was really loud with the noise echoing around the boot but managed to find a different exhaust to quieten it down. She still has the bigger back box that was on there, probably looking to get rid of, but it is sleeved I think and either a couple inches too short or too long to fit on the standard mid pipe
