EZ30 Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 Hi this is my first post on this forum, basically I've got an '02 Outback with a few problems. It's using oil after a few miles and warming up. No smoke from the exhaust really although the engine bay smells a bit oily. It's the EZ30 engine with 112,000 on the clock. I've got a few ideas with this car, different wheels etc. but first I need to address this engine issue, are these engines known for using oil above 100k? Have been quoted £1,200 by a mechanic to fix with no real details as to the problem. Thinking rings, valve stem seals etc. or could it be as simple as a PCV valve? I'm pretty clueless so if anyone's had one of these cars before and has any advice that'd help me out so much! As a side question has anyone here fitted Gram lights to their Outbacks or other Subarus? Thanks guys (and girls)
Greenmamba Posted November 8, 2016 Posted November 8, 2016 First off, I'd clean the engine so you can see any visible oil leaks. Worth cleaning the pcv as well, replace if seems stuck or if the spring seems weak.
EZ30 Posted November 8, 2016 Author Posted November 8, 2016 Thanks bud will do tomorrow and get back with any results.
