Replace tension pulley 3.0R

Featured Replies

I'm going to replace my V-Belt tension pulley after a failiure.

Do I just remove the two bolts that hold the pulley assembly and just replace it with the new one?

I guess that there are not nuts involved at the back and that the assembly has threads, so its an easy bolt off bolt on job.

What is the easiest way to mount the belt back?

If it's the tensioner pulley, not the idler pulley be careful - there is a nut behind the bolt (which holds the pulley itself onto the tensioner) which can get lost down a crevice and you will battle to get it out. Has the tensioner itself failed or are you replacing just the pulley?

Me, or the OP?

I will replace the tensioner with a new one complete with new pulley.

So basically I will only remove the tensioner itself.

OK. I think there are no nuts behind the two bolts (#4 in the diagram). Odd to have to replace the tensioner - they are usually robust. What actually happened? Did it lose tension?

No the pulley failed, but in Sweden it was the fastest fix to buy the whole unit as it is hard to aquire just a new pulley.

OK, we have serious prices here too for the OEM tensioner and pulleys.. When I did mine, I bought Febest pulleys (idler and tensioner use the same pulley) which came delivered from Lithuania in 2 days, much cheaper.

Now I can get a new pulley and restore the old tensioner so I have a healthy one on the shelf 👍
