Bouncer Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 For the last 2-3 weeks been driving without a fault, tonight when coming back, the temp went dam near the red then steam coming from under the bonnet (drivers side), I put the heater and blower on full, it brought it down a bit but very slow, also just cold air not hot coming from vents. When I got back, I put some boiling water from the kettle in the ex tank (as I did the other week), it bubbled something rotten and spilled over (I had the engine running at the time, then stopped it) it dissapeared (as in the level went right down), I put more in, same thing happened. Thing is though....it's running out from under ex tank somewhere, not the cap, it's dry there....unless the steam cam from there but because it's steam, didnt leave any marks....but the cone filter and the black box with 2 black pipes to the left of the rad, were wet with spilled coolant......what the fk's wrong....is it a h/g? If so...it's either getting scrapped or broke....and just yesterday I spent £220 on 2 recon calipers...f*cker!! It's did 140,000, had a new t/belt ect 20,000 miles ago....I'm really fkd off with it now
Jay762 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 It can be the head gasket - it can also be warped heads. do you have clear oil or has it gone gooey (emulsification)?
Bouncer Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 I found a crack in the top rad hose (which is fixed) There's no mayo on the dip stick or filler cap....but then again it's quite far up from the engine so oil and mayo have to travel quite a bit to get near it
Jay762 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 OK so you may have solved the issue - hopefully the heads have not experienced any damage themselves through lack of coolant
Bouncer Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 I know, that's what I don't know....only time will tell
Bouncer Posted September 1, 2013 Author Posted September 1, 2013 I got a comp tester from neigbour earlier, will hopefully try it tomorrow sometime, I'll try the left plugs as they're's no airbox, just that stupid !Removed! cone (which hopefully wont be there long)
Jay762 Posted September 1, 2013 Posted September 1, 2013 that will give you a rough indication as a per cylinder comparison but bear in mind the differences you can get due to Battery charge, cranking time, throttle body position and temperature of the engine itself
