Hi, I’m new to the Subaru world and bought my 2005 WRX saloon just 2 months ago! I love the thing and with 75,000 miles on it, she is going well! Nice and stock!

however, today I found myself in a ‘race’ at the lights with a MK2 MR2 turbo. It was wet conditions and as I say, my car is stock. It was pretty much a head to head the entire way, is this to be expected?

i have done my research (being a previous MR2 owner helps) and it seems the cars are closely matched on a roll from 10.

Does this sound about right? I just want to make sure my car isn’t a lemon/down on power :)

thanks for your help :)D99463FC-7606-49E1-A1C6-3F3D7FDDE7ED.thumb.jpeg.1267ab454ef5c89522f7b1e70220be09.jpeg

Technically the mr2 should have beaten you in the dry as it’s lighter

prob better matched in the wet with the 4wd Scooby and rwd mr2

mr2 is around 240bhp standard

and wrx is around 227bhp standard

Perfect.

thanks for the reply, as I say I have now owned both and really wasn’t sure on the results.

I had a better start and he pulled up at the end, guess this is the benefits of 4 wheel drive!

Does anyone have any suggestions on quick and simple/cheap ways to make my Rex faster?

thanks :)

Basic remap and change filter

£400 ish

Ideal, I’ll get some remapping looked at. I think I’m quite close to Andy Forrest tuning , so I might give him a try.

thanks!
