Hi all. My 2010 diesel Outback has a fuel leak and I cant see anywhere what the part is called that its leaking from. It is leaking behind the tank , above the rear near side wishbone. There is a metal bulb with a pipe in at the top and out at the bottom. It looks like that has corroded but what is it called? Any help would be much appreciated. Also has anyone replaced one before and is it a nightmare to get at it? Looks very tight up in  there.

Hi, can anyone tell me where to buy this part in the UK? I've got the very same diesel leak when the car isn't running,  but doesn't leak while driving!

Hey guys.. i solved it.. it´s damper fuel assembly.. part number is 42086AJ090 and i could get one only at official subaru dealer.. it costs me arround 95€.. if it´s really rusted.. there are 2 10M nuts but really hard to unscrew.. so i just ripped this out, unscrew 8M screw on new one and just fitted the tamper in place.. hoses are strong enough to just hold it in place.. so next time you´ll change it.. it´s gonna be very easy :)

Hi Larks ,

                    Thanks very much for this info. I've got the same problem on my 2011 Outback. You say you ripped it out but how?. It looks very tight Did you have to disassemble anything like  suspension ,wishbone and drive shaft , or did you use long spanners bars, and brute strength!. Many thanks for you post but please help me understand how you ripped it out. I need to do the same!.

Oh well I've ordered the part from Aird Subaru near Inverness and I guess I'm just going to find my own technique. I've currently got the car raised on ramps at the rear end which meant I could see the culprit and catch the drips.  I've  disconnected  the Battery and taken the  fuel pump fuse out of the engine bay fuse box, so now time to tackle the job. After some consideration I think I will risk letting the car roll down off the ramps,(with me sitting at the wheel ,hopefully stopping before I reach the very close back wall of the garage and then lift it up on axle stands. This will I hope not only enable me to take off the nearside rear wheel but also shut the garage doors!. Yes, it's a small garage  and if a South- easterly gale blows then it's a no go with the doors wide open. I'll try and post some pictures and let you know how I get on. If you don't hear from me again then I've failed and bought another car!.
