smallzoo Posted January 12, 2020 Posted January 12, 2020 As well as seeing a Forester I have also spotted an imprezza 2.0GX (2005) As on my other post I am a carer that only does about 4k miles a year, wants reliability and a nice car to drive with hopefully no big bills for next 12 months Does this fit the bill ? https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201910133276247 I check the MOT history but it only has the last one , no previous ones, although the advert says it has been with the family all the time and not rust etc cheers
smallzoo Posted January 13, 2020 Author Posted January 13, 2020 That one sold but I really like another one I have seen 2009 Subaru Impreza 2.0 R , full dealership history, 9 months MOT (KT59UDB), 3 months warranty, 100k miles £2280 Had 2 subaru's ( over 15 years ago ) and they never missed a beat... Only doing 4k miles a year, 80% local, 20% maybe 60mile max Advice pls before it goes ?

I had some comments made on another forum which said that it would cost me an arm and a leg if it went wrong ? Is that correct ? Linx Posted January 13, 2020 Posted January 13, 2020 Any car costs a lot of money if it goes wrong. It seems a fair price and will at least come with 3 months waranty. Buying it from a Subaru dealer is probably a good thing as they would have known what they were doing when they preped for sale.

This depends what it is plus what type of parts you use to maintain the motor. The RX does not have a turbo so one less element to go wrong, Had mine now about 5 years, have serviced regularly and only replaced brake pads plus tyres and had a weeping bush on the fwd rear diff support bracket (replaced with an WRX alloy item from breakers & saved nearly a Kg in weight) the original exhaust has been replaced by a cat back SS cobra item, other than that the motor has not missed a beat and as approaching 90K I would consider replacing the headgaskets as preventative maintenance as the OEM subaru items are not made from great material. I suppose only other thing to consider for aesthetics is a wheel refurb, or get a set of steels?
Ttdom Posted February 11, 2020 Posted February 11, 2020 To put it into perspective for you, my wifes seat arosa 1.4 automatic cost 150 quid for cambelt and water water pump. My subaru r sport wagon gona cost me about 400 quid for belt and pump, that being said I have more car and more fun, maintain it well and the 3/6 month cost isn't to extreme. If you use aftermarket parts the cost is a lot less, but cant always predict quality, since your not gona do many miles a year running cost should be fairly low. Your getting what you pay for, nice car reliable and fun, much better than a 1.4 automatic lol
