Jamsey 1969
I am selling my Subaru Legacy saloon diesel. I purchased this car 9th March last year, the previous keeper having owned it from July 2012. I paid £2670 for the car and have put a fair amount of money into it. Front discs and pads and rear pads, in March a new Battery and clutch in July (all receipts present). The turbo went in early December and a reconditioned one was fitted along with an oil feed pipe. That was £950. Last week I got a flicker of an oil light which didn’t overly bother me. I topped the oil up although it wasn’t that low however the next day after starting it was on for a few seconds. It drove normally without and issues smoke rattles etc. On the 2nd start of the day for a journey to my garage it over ran for about 2-3 seconds. On moving off I got about 300 yards and it stopped. No doubt in my mind that something terminal had happened with the engine. I had it recovered to the garage who confirmed my worse fears. The engine is dead. Gutted is an understatement. As well as the mechanical costs and work with the car I have also had a load of cosmetic stuff done too. Wheels refurbished and powder coated with new tyres all round in September, although it has suffered from the usual girlfriend driving in the fact she managed to scuff the front nearside 3 days after they were done. Full interior leather clean and the deepest most luxurious mats I could buy. Also a full compound polish with a ceramic coating. You can see the work in my last picture. I have a very comprehensive service history too. The private plate shown in the pictures is coming off soon and it will be going back to the original EX09USB. This car is very rare, there are currently 21 diesel saloons on the road in the UK as of today. I am comfortable in saying that this one is probably one of the best. There is no doubt that the Legacy’s achilles heel is it’s engine however there will be someone out there who has one or has a car with a working engine which the condition will be far below this one. For those mechanically minded this is a straightforward engine swap and you will have one very good looking car. For any prospective buyers I will be happy to take any additional pictures. As it stands and I am being picky there are a couple of things I was planning to do. Front nearside wheel needs re-done, front valance has a scuff low down under front number plate and the rear heated window doesn’t work. I have put enough money into it over the last 11 months probably a figure nearing an eye watering £5000. I am going to take a huge hit on this but as you can imagine my heart has gone out of the car after this run of issues. I have put a price of £950 on it but as always sensible offers will be considered. If you need any further information feel free to contact me 07879617058.
