Legacy R 2.0 2006 Engine Hiccup

Featured Replies

Hi  -  I recently bought a 2006 Legacy 2.0 R petrol engined estate. Over about 3,000 rpm it's a very lively car to drive, but it seems to bog down rather seriously at about 2,500 revs Doesn't want to accelerate, lingers reluctantly at that engine speed, gives the odd hiccup, then slowly moves through this rev band and hurtles forward at about 3,000 revs. I'm not very technically knowledgable or skilful, but in the old days of carburettor engines I would have been thinking about blocked jets - unfortunately I'm completely ignorant about more modern computer-operated fuel-injected engines.

I'v got an impression it might be getting worse, and can imagine engine just stopping one day soon.....

I'd be grateful for any advice, or for info about any garage or engineer handy for Oxford that you'd recommend....

Thanks in advance   -   Stewart
