Hi everyone, I have just joined as I am now a proud owner of my first Subaru.

It is a Japanese import, an 08 Exiga GT. 2 litre turbo, 220 hp, 5 speed auto with Si drive.

I was looking for a 4x4 estate and saw this one at a nearby importer, really liked the spec and it has 7 seats and when the are all folded down you have a vast loading bay.

Plenty of room for my golf buggy and clubs. Unfortunately with the corona virus restrictions I have not has chance to give it a good road test.

Are there any other Exiga owners out there??

Hi Greenmamba, thanks for the welcome.  yes very rare but a lovely vehicle.

We live in Fauchons Close, normally nice a quiet cul-de-sac but at the moment, as you will gather, is is absolutely dead!

Thanks for the welcome Jay, the Exiga was mainly made for the Japanese market and also sold in Australia , Singapore and Indonesia, never marketed in the UK or USE

quite a bit of info on Wikipedia, that later models are quite a high spec.

Hello - I am looking at buying an Exiga - there is basically no information out there on them in the UK. OP - how are you getting on with it? Any quirks or anything I should look out for? Does it feel particularly quick? Is the ride harsh? Thanks

Hi hanman, welcome.

The Exiga has been good, made for Japan market and also Indonesia and Australia.

it was imported in Dec 2018 and I got it in March 2019. The importer had serviced and MOT'd it, wax oiled it and fitted a UK radio/satnav. Changed the speedo to MPH and ODO to miles.
In December I had it fully serviced, all oils etc. and checked out all over, it needed new tyres so got Michelin Cross Climate, (I have had them before on my Jag X type AWD and Ford Kuga) and then got it re-MOT'd.

It really goes well, auto box is lovely, but have to watch my speed as it is easy to soon get over the speed limit!!

Bags of room for my golf gear. I had retro heated seats fitted and reversing sensors.

As you will no doubt know it has not had much use during lockdown and the Battery went flat a couple of times. Thought the Battery was on the way out so got a new one.
It still went flat so checked it out and I  have a Battery drain of 0.2 amps on Fuse No. 7 which it says is the integrated unit? sounds expensive!!
Just need to find some one to fix it now.

Apart from that I am very happy with it.

The Early Exiga we’re sold in Japan, Indonesia and Australia (Legacy Exiga) from 2009 they have lots of other goodies like lane departure etc. A lot of Japanese go for a top of the range Sony sound system inc TV. Unfortunately they don’t work in the uk so a retro fit unit has to be fitted.
The newer ones will be more expensive!!
Make sure if you get one you get the cam belt etc changed and change all oils etc. As you will probably get no service history. Still can’t get a drivers hand book in English.

Hi all, I hope you don't mind me posting on this thread?

I'm looking at getting a new (to us) 7 seater, and came across the exiga online. We've had an elgrand and an alphard in the past. I was just wondering, what are subaru dealers like in helping you get obscure parts for your exiga, should you ever need some? From previous experience, the toyota dealers here in the uk I've used in the past for the Alphard have always been great, and massively helpful in obtaining any parts that I couldn't get in the after market even though the Alphard was an import and never officially sold over here. Whereas the Nissan dealers I tried when I had the Elgrand were the polar opposite. Because the Elgrand wasn't an official UK model, they weren't interested in helping me in the slightest.

I work in the motor trade but don't have a lot of experience with subarus. Is the engine in the exiga also fitted to any UK models? Are the brakes similar to any UK spec subarus? I'm thinking in terms of getting service items and consumables, is it fairly easy to do so?

Thanks in advance 😊 if you'd rather I create a new thread please just say the word and I'll do so.

Ian 😊👍
