timing belt prices vary

Featured Replies

had half hour spare and halfords was across the road so i got a price for a new timing belt for my p1

got a quote for £95.00

then went round the corner to euro car parts the belt there was £55.00 thats a big diffrence in price.

the timing belt kit was £255.00 but im not sure on the make or brand..

im going to shop around to see if there are any places local to me that can help..

will i be better to buy the belt from subaru main dealer and do i need to get the kit with it ? or just have

a belt fitted on its own

I think 60K miles is the full kit change and 30k is just  the belts was with my ST170 anyway.

I will be going full kit on mine when its due in about 18k miles :(

And like Jay said before depends on the belts you get. with how much you pay think the belts I'm looking at was £350      (I mean the full kit)

And I would shop around online get some great deals sometimes ebay can be good to check out

I spend money on parts with two things in mind - how will I be using it and will it give me peace of mind

There is nothing wrong with halfords and europarts kit and they do the job for a lot of people however you do own a particularly choice piece of kit

I believe Subaru quoted the P1 as having 280BHP which is not a small amount of power if things start to fail.

I would get a quote from a main dealer for the belt and kit then compare to a reputable scooby spares dealer who specialise in these engines.

but for me I would spend £155 and go for a kevlar reinforced item from cosworth - but then I would get peace of mind

Just Subaru - Revolution service parts link - belt at £99
