speedo not working ?

as above been looking for a replacement forester and found a candidate but the advert says speedo not working 

anyone know if big job/ball ache/don't touch with a barge pole ????

pretty handy witha spanner just wondering if its worth a punt ?

What year is the Foz - could be a cable, could be VSS from abs rings (CANbus)

57 its got low mileage too which i suspect is due to the speedo not working lol

I think that is canbus - I suggest getting and OBD reader and see if you can get the speed to come up on your phone (with an app) that will tell you if it getting generated no problem so issue with dash or connection to dash
