Fuel prices

Hi have been running 86 2.5 wrx on Shell v power but costing a fortune. Could I use a 98 rated fuel instead or as a mix and not affect engine ? Sorry first Subaru since nearly 90s so bit of a novice

some people say yes, some say no, for me i'd only run it on 99 even if it costs £10 a tank more, cheaper than an engine rebuild.
