sunklotto
A couple of weeks ago I had been on a low fuel light for a decent 20kms. At the time was trying to stretch out refilling until the cheap day of the fuel cycle. I was driving up an incline when my car started struggling, loosing complete power in 3rd gear. I dropped it back to first gear and only just managed to make it to the top of the hill. Figuring it was due to having no fuel - I began heading to the nearest fuel station. 1st and 2nd gear worked fine - but putting my foot down / bypassing 1500rpms on 3rd or 4th gear would make the car completely loose power - it was the same as being in 3rd or 4th gear as it was reving it in neutral. Finally made it to the fuel station - put in half a tank. The issue persisted with 3rd and 4th gear whilst running extremely rough - about 10 mins in the issue disappeared, all gears worked fine everything seemed good. Over the next week when I first started the car/ for the first 20 mins of driving it felt really rough, sounding like it was chugging and struggling- mainly when putting my foot down in the accelator. Once she warmed up the issue went away and everything ran fine. Almost a week after the fuel incident- hop in the car. Starts, starts chugging running really rough then cuts out. I try to start it again - doesn't turn over. It's now sitting in the driveway - I'm unable to start it. If I try starting it- it will turn over once, then chugg/struggle and cut out. 2nd time around just doesn't start at all. I was hoping that all of the issues are due to the crap in the bottom of the fuel tank being suck throughout the car - have never run out of fuel in the 4 years of owning it. Hopeful it would be a simple and easy fix. Hooked up my code reader to the car - states the following: P2146 / P2147 - Fuel Injector circuit issues ( see images ). I have contacted a mechanic - after explaining what happened, he suggested he wouldn't be able to do anything as it sounds very serious - he referred me to a specialised Diesel Mechanic with a 3 week waiting list. My question is - is there anything I can do myself to hopefully rectify the situation? Was hopeful I could put some Injector cleaning fluid or something. Or is there anything I can do that will narrow down what the issue is? That way I can have it towed to the mechanics with an idea of what needs to be done. Any replies would be greatly appreciated. Stuck without a car - not knowing where to tow it or whether I need to save 1k or 5k to have it fixed. In limbo not knowing how to handle it and its driving me nuts. Cheers for reading and cheers for any help! Keith
Tidgy
Given the code is for the injectors may well be that one of them is either blocked or nackered. might be worth chaning the fuel filter as its not a mega cost.
